I went over to Staples and bought one of those cheap arm lamps that has a magnifier on it. Attached it to my desk and I can swivel it around as needed. I think I paid $12 for it. Some guys use headgear that has a light and magnifies (like the kind jewelers use) Micromark carries them

I know that there was medical jeeps for sure.

jay, I could see why you would want to watch the battle of the bulge. You might end up putting it in a desert base!
BTW, was every tank in that movie an M-48?

That is quite a slideshow. Just got back from one of the LHS's - found a Tamiya British Cromwell Mk.IV for 1,800 yen ( about $17.00). That's not too bad, is it? Just in case the M4A1 don't qualify.

Fantastic . The one picture of the soldier walking down the wooded road was very helpful. I would love to make my pines look like that, but I think it is just too tall.

Off hand, I don't know, but I will see what I can dig up. In the mean time, I suggest putting a post on the main Armor board and asking. There are a lot of people out there who probably could tell you

I have my figure ready to paint. That warrior figure is the stuff. Simply amazing detail. Not sure if it's historically accurate, but looks to match the uniforms in the Band Of Brothers. My jeep is nearing completion. I used almost all of Aber's PE. I think there's more brass than plastic on this one. I will try and post pics tonight.

Well, I was hit by the Tweezer-pult and carpet monster. I had a PE hinge go flying through the ari into a nice loose burber carpet. Looks like I will be skipping the hinge. By the way, installing the PE lift hooks are a real pain. They just don't want to stay

Try rubbing a magnet against your carpet...you may just find your hinge.Wink [;)]

QUOTE: jwest, let me ask this.... i've tried winter washes before and they always are too thick or cover too much of the vehicle..... is there a trick? i heard that some tankers in the field would actually dip branches in white paint and wash their vehicles that way....

I had a go at a winter wash on an 88.

I painted the base coat and carried out normal weathering on that (dry-brushing + washes), then I made a mix of white pastel chalk dust and water. Slop it on, literally! You want it to look field applied so just get it on there!

Then take some blu-tak or putty-eraser and carefully remove the chalk from the areas you want to show wear on. A sort of reverse dry-brushing technique.

The beauty is if you take off too much, just slop more on.
If it goes horribly wrong, just rinse the chalk away with water.
When you've got it how you want it, seal with clear varnish.

btw I'm going to clear the decks to make a start on the C-47 tonight
