Well I just posted this on the wrong group build oopps. I decided to do a one piece mold. The directions indicated that a light blue color RTV will take a longer time to cure than a dark blue colored RTV. Considering this the RVT mold will probably take about 4 plus hours to fully cure. Since this is my first time I am really looking forward to see how it turns out.Big Smile [:D]

Hahh, the group build that I refuse to let go.Big Smile [:D] This plane is one of those you have to stop working on to allow fustration to be built on another project. The end of the charger( pictured with the tip of the pencil ) was accidentally cut off.Shock [:O] After some thought I was going to let it go and not do anything about it. But the more I looked at it the more I just had to fix it. So I bought all I need to make another replica...RTV rubber, the activator and the resin and even the lago's. After reading the May issue of FM "How to cast your own resin parts, I decided to go ahead and try it. This will be my first time. I thought I just share my first experience with you all. Hope it comes out ok.

I had to trim the vacuform canopy . It was a whole piece and I only needed a part of it. This canopy is extremely flimsy. I thought this thing was going to break wiith just a slight pressure. Oh well, I did it into some future and its in the process of curing. The step of masking it will be the next step. This is the step that I messed up the orignal.

Ok, well I got some pics of my Bf-109G started but with the new "Internet Cafe Pro" software at the Liberty Center here on base it won't let me load into the computer!Angry [:(!] So I need to find someone to let me use their terminal and put the pics on floppy or whatever. I did have to switch kits, as I couldn't find the instructions for my 1/32 Hasegawa Gustov. It's the 1/48 Revell kit from '90. I didn't do anything special to the cockpit except add a harness and put an extra Fujimi G-6 instrument panel decal over the rather basic kit one. It was actually pretty effective.Big Smile [:D] The fuselage is being put together now but its rather tricky since I'll have to do it a bit at a time due to warpage, mis-matched panel lines, ect.[:0]- Calvin

That's okay. I say if you started this build, keep going till you finish, and don't forget to post the pics along the way.

I've finally gotten some good work done this weekend. I originally thought about doing a P-47 in German markings, but I changed to a Kawanishi Shinden Type 11 (George) in US markings. I saw an unusual picture in the book "Cockpit - An Illustrated History of World War II Aircraft Interiors" of a pair of these aircraft warming up and they are in US markings (Pgs 132-133). I don't have a camera yet, but plan on buying one Monday or Tuesday. I'll scan the picture form the book and then post pics of my model.

ahh, thats too bad about the canopy!
Its probably a good thing that no Japanese ever got ahold of one. Seems like it would have been hard for them to get one when the air bases wwere on guarded islands.

Did some research on any captured P-38 . I have seen pictures of a captured B-17, P-51 and others, but no P-38. This is not to say the Japanese have never capture a P-38. I just have not found any proof yet.

Update on my build: The canopy was damaged when I spilled lacquer thinner on it. The canopy had a coat of Future. The reaction really did a number on it. Banged Head [banghead] After some sanding and buffing the canopy is still foggy. I am not sure why? I am going to order a new canopy set for this kit. I should arrive by next week.

Well I still like the looks of that Lightning in Japanese pattern. UA, I'll be looking forward to seeing what your research comes up with.

I do not recall ever reading where a P-38 was captured by the Japanese. To be honest I would need to do more reseach on that one.

Jinithith2, Glad you liked the build.Big Smile [:D]
