Has anyone started anything for this GB yet? I've picked out my figs, and went a couple of days ago to pick them up. I probably won't get around to doing anything yet, but soon.

Ok, I've finally started looking over and cleaning the Fellowship figs....

Its really strange. Some things about the figs are very good. Some things are very, very bad.

For instance, there's a space where Gimli's axe is a little distance from his body. Instead of there being an air gap, this is filled in with metal. Now, we're not talking a little piece of flash to easily get rid of. We're talking a chunk of metal about 1mm thick that runs all the way from his axe handle back to his chest, body, and arm. This piece of metal is the same thickness as the axe handle, in fact, but there's no way it should be a part of it.

Another great example is Strider's sword. For starters, the tip is connected to his cloak by an arc of metal. Again, this is not flash, but a solid arc of metal. Next, the sword is one size, and the scabbard for it is completely different. Looking at the fig, there is no possible way that sword would fit in that scabbard. Maybe I'm being a little picky on this part, but its OBVIOUSLY the wrong size. I have friends that don't paint who took one look at it and pointed it out.

Yet some of the details on the figs are wonderful.

*shrug* Who knows... I just have to figure out how much work I want to do to fix some of the flaws.

Anyone else having better luck with their figs?

I think the metal is there to pervent the sword or axe from bending and breaking off. It happens a lot on some of the other figs I buy. My Mumak has some horrible fit problems, and its entire body is textured, so I have to re-sculpt along the seams. Also, I have heard people complaning about the scabbords, but I don't think there's much to do about it. It should look fine as long as the sword is a reasnoble distance from the scabbord..

I dont play warhammer but i pick them up cause i though it would be a nice change from ww2 armour and i cant touch my models till the other gb starts in may so give me a week and i should have these done. Ahhh i got to get a darn digital camera to take photos though.

I came in on the tail-end of someone building a Mumak and helped fix some seamlines. They were TERRIBLE. Yuck [yuck] I'm sure you'll do a much better job with them, though. I just went for the quick, view-from-a-slight-distance fixes because of time. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Ive been pretty lax at painting lately , hence my BRs are waaaay behind. Puter games have sucked me into their evil world and Im also back doing 1/35 scale armour models
Anyhoo heres the latest BRs

isnt it always the way when you think youve finished you see a mould line. AArgg!!

the banner is fairly basic so as to leave room for victory scrolls which I plan to add if I win a game( thats my excuse anyway and Im sticking to it)

Comments critique welcome as always.
Cheers

I don't play warhammer, but I think its cool. The only thing that puts me off is the price. I like the Penitent engine though- very cool. Big Smile [:D]

Well its like riding a bike , for a while it seems daunting but then its just fun again. Would it help if I said Im nervous about painting armour again? lol its been ages since I built any scale armour and now Im in 3 GBs for tanks n armoured cars. Oh and my little JGSDF LAV too is mocking me daring me to paint it. Other than gaming tanks I havent finished any armour for over 15 years. Id better get pedalling I guess.Smile [:)]
