Hello the progress is going very slow.  The paint job did not go very well, and I had some other minor "accidents".  I had to re-sand some areas.  If you take a peek at my thread on To scribe or not to scribe in the Techniques section,  you can see my "handiwork" when it comes to sanding.  Will I ever finish this beast of a model?  Who knows?

Well friends I am about 76% complete with the model. I am only able to model on the weekends. Monday thru Friday have been very busy for me. I will be keeping you all posted and hopefully I will be able to show off the build real soon.

I finally received the decals that were order 4 weeks ago. Not too terribly excited about this company's service. The good news is that the build is coming along nicely. I can not wait to post some pics and show it off. Corsairs are one of my favorite WW ll aircraft.

ernie no problem. the first rule of this is to have fun. you finish or not have fun with it. if you dont make the "end date" all i ask is that you post your progress and finish. dont let it hit the unfinished never going to finish pile.

September 1st is around the corner and I must apologize. I do not think I will have the model complete by then. About 40% of the model is done. The decals have not arrive yet. Maybe next week. I just put the project on hold for too long. I do apologize. Thanks for your understanding. I will most likely post some pics when the model is complete.

My apologies, Joe but even thought I got pretty far long on my Corsair, I don't think I'll finish by Sept 7th. What time I have left to model I want to keep for my PBY for the Pearl Harbor build and maybe even finish my own group build for the seaplanes.

Joe, I just noticed that my build still says "Lt. Kenneth Walsh" and I have since found out that he was in 124 not 214! The kit does have markings for "Marine's Dream" and I'll be doing that bird;-)

Thanks! Big Smile [:D]

The AB is all masked off. My cheap, single action AB is more like a spraycan than an AB. It's either all on or all off it seems. I don't trust it enough to feather freehand. I'm trying to convince the g/f that I need a dual action for my birthday, but she dosn't like the idea of me spending more time in my models.

Nice work, Jabbe. You turned a crappy kit into a pleasing model. Did you mask the paint scheme or did you free-hand it? From what I can see from the photos you did a good job. Nice tight pattern.

Hi guys,

This is my Testors 1/72 Corsair. When I got the kit I thought it was a good price for $6, but I think I'd much rather spend twice as much for a higher quality kit. The wheels are too big and thin, no cockpit, little detail, and fit problems all the way around. I suppose you get what you pay for.

I am somewhat pleased with my airbrush job, as it's the first time I've done mutiple colors and I think it came out allright. I also tried a wash for the first time, and I had moderate success. I think next time I'll have a better idea of how to do it. It's nice to practice on a cheap model, as I have a few really nice ones in the works that I want to come out really professionial.

Hi everybody! I finally finished my build tonight! This is the Tamiya 1/48 scale kit with Cutting Edge decals. It was weathered with a wash of a black/brown mixture and then I created the worn look using Humbrol "Linen". I dabbed it on in various places and then used a rag damp with thinner to wipe it off. When dry it gave the dusty, sun-baked look to it. As the final touch, I added stretched sprue anttenna wires. So without further ado I present...

Comments and criticisms are welcome.

I wish to thank Joe for putting together and moderating this GB. Thanks Joe!!! This was a very enjoyable build for me and was glad to be part of it.
