Well as far as I know my decals shipped on Fri so should be able to show some more progress soon...  I may even buy another Bf110 and redo it as I broke the loop radio direction finder and had to repair it as well as one of the lower antenna.... I also realized the plate that the landing gear connect to is very weakly bonded and may eventually break...

Tomorrow I go the one of the LHS's so will make my mind up then...

I'm still waiting on decals... started working on the Bf110 a little today, putting some more subassemblies together and going to go ahead and finish the model without the decals as I am sure the detail parts won't impede me putting the decals on (famous last words???)

if I get more put on tomorrow will share some pics.  I am rather impressed with this Fujimi kit, I had low expectations of it but overall it goes together well and fits well!

Maybe everybody is busy. I had warped wings on the Ta-154. I ended up using coat hanger wire in the leading edge to straighten them out.  Now its at the stage where the seams have to be fixed. For a ProModeler kit I am really dissappointed in the quality. So, things are progressing real slow which is typical for me. One of these days I'll get some pics posted.

yeah... problem is this is the ONLY decal sheet like it and squadron doesn't carry it.  All the other nightfighter decal sets are for mattle scheme Bf110's, this one has the grey letters for the blackish sides...

oh well... musy be patient!  (I keep having to repeat that, maybe I'll start believing it!!!

I hear ya!  Hate it when stuff like that happens.

I have a habit of picking up more than one decal sheet for stuff I have in the stash.  Or, the extreme for me, I have two decal sheets for a Fw-190D-9. But there's not a one in the pile. Yet.

Actually sitting around twiddling my thumbs waiting for my greatmodels order to be shipped.  The nightfighter decals are still on special order.  When I ordered them it said in stock, I think my order keyed them that they were out of stock... oh well.. I was getting excited about it too!!!

not too far off of you here. Mom is home with a broken leg, ankle and thumb after getting in a wreck coming back from the evacuation for the Hurricane, ended up their house was ok after the hurricane but she had to spend a week in ICU from the wreck... My grandma got airlifted out by FEMA before the hurricane, then they lost her, my dad finally tracked her down in a Little Rock hospital

I'm sick, my dogs are bad, I've still got a hole in my roof from the hurricane.. BUT!!! other than that I have managed to get a little building in every night when my wife goes to karate... Big Smile [:D] that has helped...

Hope things even out for ya soon... it's hard to get into some good building time when life is too noisy to concentrate well... and tell your youngest they can come visit you on weekends "out back of the house"! Wink [;)]

well I jumped the gun because Greatmodels is at their usual hijinks... order something and it says In Stock on the page, your order status says Special Orders when you go to it...

that's ok I've had good service in the past and I am sure they are just looking for them...

I did a light coat of 80% RLM66, 15% RLM05 and 5% Flat Sea Blue to get the lighter than black nighfighter look. I also took the liberty of painting the fuselage lightly with light grey uppers and RLM02 mottle (just a mist to color it actually) so I could simulate a combat applied coat of nightfighter black. I might mist a little more of my custom mix on the nose then with a chalkwater type mix of RLM66 or Nuetral Gray mist LIGHTLY over the fuselage to simulate oxidation...

My early work so far:

(this shows the bare cockpit that comes in this kit... I want to do another later and spruce it up)

cool.. yeah this started out with me doing a little on the cockpit a year ago... I put it up as the Battle of Britain GB was starting and I was doing an odd subject (an F4F Wildcat in Royal Navy clothes, they flew coastal patrol from Scotland and the eastern coast during the BoB) A few days ago I was bored and looking for something to distract me and there it was! After the decal went missing and I saw the nightfighter versions it was like a blinding light!!! This was my build!

Right now I am deciding on the color, I am thinking RLM 66 will do the job... not truly black but dark enough to fake it that it is!

Still haven't got the decals in but I am keeping myself busy with an F3F for the Pearl Harbor GB in the meantime...

ANY build is a good build. and switching gears in the middle of a GB is ok too. as long as you have fun and not stress the little things. the big stresses will just have to wait untill we are done with the buildBig Smile [:D]

I liked the one of the aircraft in front of the moon... I think that was a kind of consensus from a few...

Ok my build just got changed... I was sitting there working on my Bf-110 C/D and had just got the fuselage closed and was shooting a coat of primer on it when I realized I was missing a decal... so I went online and was looking up the nose art for this beast. (Wespen, it had a wasp on either side of the nose) and saw some beautiful Bf-110 nightfighters... so if it is ok I want to switch my build to that... (I don't remember if I commited or not) also I can't remember if this thing actually started or not but if it has I hope I have not excluded the 110 since I already started on it...

I am ordering the decals tonight for the night fighter version so should be able to move forward soon...

by the way the 1/48 Bf-110 C/D kit by Fujimi is very nice... comparable to Hasegawa quality! (including the sparse but still ok cockpit area) I only spent 20 to 30 min of spot sanding and checking till the seams were flush.. and using Tenax to glue the wing roots I ended up with 0 gap and 0 sanding and most of all perfectly flush!!!!! The canopy looks like it might be a bear to mask as the detail on the spars is shallow but I think BMF will do it fine...

Just an FYI if someone gets an urge to do one... I was cautious about it as I haven't built anything by them yet but came out very impressed.. OH! and on the noseart they show a huge belly tank that makes it look like a pregnant goldfish... that is an option and you don't have to build it that way... it almost turned me off of buying the kit till someone told me it wasnt molded in like that...

wow! a lot has happened since I last showed my face here... I got sidetracked with hurricane Rita and am just getting my life back to normal here. Time permitting I think I will build a nightfighter version A6M5 Zero I was reading about on j-aircraft.com... just something a little different from the usual... I have the extremely simple Revell kit but hope to find a Hasegawa when I skip over to Hobby Lobby today for their 50% off sale...

Of course this is barring anything else happening to disrupt my life haha

Well, I finally got started on my Ta-154. The cockpit is partially done. Its got warped wings and a bit of a fuselage hump so some 'tweaking' is in order. Otherwise the general fit appears to be good. It is a surprisingly small aircraft though.
How is everyone else doing?

Kevin, I am sorry to hear of the situation of your mother-in-law and father. I know how it feels and I hope they are recovering well.

I have just started on my project and have gotten a lot of basic assembly done. It'll be a pretty much OOB build as I don't know of any aftermarket accessories for the F-82, except for decals. Also, it'll be quite a while before I can post any pics as I no longer have a camera to use and it'll be some time before I can get one.

Hello to all:

Here is a pic of my Revell He 219, as you can see it is quite crude compared to the new modern kits but is still fun to build.
This model will get a camouflage of black undersurfaces and RLM 76 uppersurfaces with a scribble of RLM 81 and RLM 82 on top of that.

Not much will be done on the He 219 for about two weeks until my other two models(1/32 Bf 109K-4 and 1/72 Me 209) are finished and out of the way.

Very nice; that nose is wild. Is that a conversion set?

If anyone is interested, and since this is a Nightfighter build, here is a shot of my last nightfighter. Its a Ju-88G-10 with the Morgenstern nose. It was more of a 'what-if' project. As soon as time permits I will be starting the Ta-154.

This is the last pic for now. I don't have anymore.
By chance, is there a list of who is in on this and what they are building?
