Looking good Dave, what tape did you use to mask the canopy and turrets?

Thanks Ric.

Jay: Normally I use 3M scotch tape to mask canopies and use the frame lines(ridges) as a guide to cut the mask. That works well with Hase and Academy canopies but in this case where there was no framing on the canopy I simply had to guesstimate and ended up precutting the pieces out of masking tape (green painter's) as it was easier to work with. Hopeully I won't get too much bleeding.

I used green masking painter tape for the boly canopy and it bled like crazy.  I still have to scrap the little bits of bleed away with a sharped tooth pick.  Sad [:(]

I just have to get the turret put together and a few little touch ups here and there and she's done!  I think Wednesday the boly will be revealed, after almost four months she'll be finished!  yeehaw!Cowboy [C):-)]

Sounds great Jay! Thumbs Up [tup] I'm really looking forward to the pics.

As for myself I managed to get all the masking off the Sunderland.  No bleeding Party [party]!  I think it took longer to get all the tape off those little round windows than it did to put them on.  I'm half way done painting the engines and props.  I might just call it quits after that and screw the antenae and rigging (or leave them for another day).

The moment you have all been waiting for!Smile [:)]Yeah!! [yeah]

The Bolingbroke Mk. IVT is finally finished, well technically I actually still have to glue the clear turret clear piece on, dry-brush the rear guns, put a slight wash in the wheels and add the antenna wire.  Other wise she looks darned pretty!Blush [:I]

Don't look too closely at the wheel wells, you won't find anything as I just added a little bit of extra detail to the landing gear you can see, I didn't feel like going through all the effort of creating wheel wells like I did for my Beaufighter.  Besides, I'm not going to have the model displayed upside down anyway.Big Smile [:D]  enough ramblings, have a gander...

So what do you think for a crappy Airfix! I'm quite happy with it, you just don't see many in this scheme out there.

Okay, I haven't posted updates for awhile and I had a pretty productive weekend (on modeling anyway) and I'm almost finished so here's a couple of quick shots.  Things were going so well I decided to go for it on the radar.  Sorry about the blurriness on the one but I took them late last night and didn't want to reshoot.  One more weekend should wrap it up. Big Smile [:D].

Thanks guys I always appreciate your comments.

Jay, it will be hung from the ceiling above the workbench alongside my old BV 138. Next I have to figure out where to put the Ju 290 for the Atlantic GB and eventually the Lancaster as well. I think I need to start building some Single engine kits for awhile or else build more shelves. (eek!) Thanks also on the tip for the copper cowling mixture. I mixed some humbrol aluminum in with the copper and I think it turned out great.

And by the way Jay A BIG CONGRATS ON PASSNG THE CENTURY MARK!!! WOOHOO!!!

Thanks Anthony,  How's the Arrow coming along?

Well, 3 months late but here she is.  I still want to do some weathering and exhaust staining  but I am out of flat clear and as I use pastels that will have to wait until my order arrives.  For now I am calling it done!!!!!   Yippeeee!!!!   For those of you who have been following the build you know that this has been a long haul.  I think I said something at the beginning about not wanting to do the Hasegawa Lancaster for this build because I wanted to take my time and do it right...  I think that build would have taken a lot less time than this one.  Anyway, I finished adding the last of the radar antenae last night and shot some pics, still needs some clean up and like I said some dull coat to hid some glue marks (CA and I are not good friends yet) but here she is...  Finally!!!!

Thanks Bear,  I ordered some PE for my Lanc a couple of weeks ago and I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival too.  Not sure when I'll get started on it though.  Probably not until the fall at the rate I'm going.

Dave I know what you mean with all the GB's going and the temptation of joining others how do we find the time.  I should be getting my pe stuff hopefully today or early next week unless Canada post returned my package to the Squadron shop like my last order.  On another topic do you know what code letters was your uncles aircraft.  I know 420's code started with PT*_ .  After i've confirmed my research on my uncles A/C I'll have some red lettering left over if your interested I could send you the codes to match for your Lancaster, it would save you having to buy a whole letter set, just a thought.

That really does suck Jay. Sad [:(]  Darn those IT guys eh!!!!

Actually, I interviewed for a job with a local government and I'm worried that if I get the job I won't be able to access any of this stuff at work.  I would then be forced to upgrade my Mac to OSX at home.

Bear, my Uncle's call letters were PT-O.  The kit decals have the P and the O but I will have to come up with the T.  I need to double check to see what style they were.  It think they had the yellow outline.  Anyway, if you have some to spare that would be great.  I'll get back to you on the style.

Dave sounds good let me know what style and I'll check what I've got.  Those with the yellow border are hard to come by However you may be in luck.

Shes looking great!

The Arrow well it's one problem after another, I haven't got much building done on it, still sanding and puttying to try and get the dam cockpit area done. It's hell!! lol. One that is done, some scribing and then a light coat of primer to she how she looks, hopfully no more putty will be needed, then I can paint her white and get the decals on etc...
