31st of July was the last post!.. Guys, I go away for a minute and the place falls apart?.. Just jokes, but I thought I would give this thread a bump anyways!

I have started again on my 1/32 RAAF Hornet.. I know it wasnt in the original plans, but I have all but completed my RAAF Collection, and this is my baby!.. Has its own space in the living room all set out.. I am getting rid of pretty well much my whole modeling collection in all subjects.. I have enjoyed building them all, but I am finding that less is best!.. And a few extra dollars go into the pocket for stuff that I really really want!

Cheers Chris

Hi guys,

I would like to join the build as well if I can? Big Smile [:D]

I already have a few RAAF/RAN what ifs in the collection, I am planning a couple of F-15s in RAAF markings.  They will both be D models in service with 2OCU.  In my What if RAAF we bought F-15s instead of the Hornets back in the late 80s, they equip the fighter SQNs and we are just replacing the F-111s with E models.  So of the 2 I am building one will be in Air superiority greys and the other in Gunship grey as 2OCU now trains all fighter and strike pilots.  If I have time I have an Airfix E that will also be done as a 1 or 6SQN jet. I also have a C I could do as a 77SQN jet (if I the have time and inclination).

Here are some of my previous What If builds:

Italeri X-35 as a RAAF F-35 in 1SQN red flag markings

Mincraft B777 as 34SQN VIP transport

Airfix P-61 'Silver Widow'

Matchbox HS-125 as 34SQN VIP transport

Cheers

Well to keep this thread running along....

I dragged the F-15s out of the roof on the weekend. I found my 2 F-15Ds and and a C.  I also have an Airfix, Academy and AMT F-15E floating around the modelling room.  I now remember that I had actually thought about doing the C as a Roulette jet, in the old orange white colours. I have a 1/72 Hawkeye Roulettes sheet I could use.  Though I suppose I could use certain decals from the sheet and try and do the red and white scheme.  Once I clear a few projects from the bench I will dive into these Propeller [8-]

Another thought I had regard ing th eRoulettes schem was to use the Hawkeye decal on an A37, though I have since gotten rid of the kit!

Cheers

Well Mick,

At least there are 3 of us!

Here is another I prepared earlier Smile [:)]

This is the 1/72 Fujimi F-4S(UK) as a 724 Anniversary aircraft in a disruptive camo scheme.  In my RAN FAA the RAN operated F-4s and these were about to be phased out (in 1986) for new Hornets which would be based on the new HMAS Australia ((refurbished USS Midway).

Excellent stuff!!

... Its funny you should post those, because I did something similar last year. Also in 1/72 scale.

The first pics are of my what if Australian Navy Harrier..... I didnt have my new cam then, so you will have to excuse the bad quality..

And the this is my what if Navy F-4...

I did end up adding a big Navy decal to either side.. But it has since been destroyed for parts on another project, that has also sincee been distroyed, and so it goes on...

Yours too (Excellent)!

I had the Hasegawa kit for such a project but got rid of it at a club swap and sell.  I still have an Italeri RF18 to do in a Navy scheme, there is also a Italeri GR5 part started on the bench which could end up as a RAAF CAS bird.  Also recently got the Revell EH101 which may end up in RAN colours as well.  You could go crazy with a thread like this.  Have you visited http://www.whatifmodelers.com/, plenty of this stuff there.

Well I will knock the F-15s out of the way first and then see what I can do Smile [:)]

Thanks Ray,

I actually got my Revell 1/144 747-400 in the mail with my latest stash.. And I couldnt believe that they didnt include window decals for the windows or the windscreen.. As a fellow Airliner modeler.. Where can I get my hands on a set cheap, or a trade?

Chris,

The earlier Revell releases do not come with a lot on the decal sheets. These latest releases (A380, A320, 737-800) all come with very comprehensive decal sheets which include all your data type stencilling and windows, etc...

Flying Colours do a 747 detail sheet (FC44-042) which is availalble from Squadron or Great Models I think.  You can also approach the decal manfacturers such as Draw decal (Http://www.drawdecal.com) who can make a custom sheet up for you.  I had a set of windscreens made up be Greg(  from Drawdecal) which included 747, 737 and DC9 windscreens. I got around 15 windscreen decals for $5US.  Drop him on email.  I am sure he could also do the cabin windows as well.

I can send you a windscreen decal if you are desperate. I will rat through my decal collection (150 sheets) and see if I can find a spare set of cabin decals.

Cheers

As the Minister for Defence. I have been going through my new stash, and so I have decided to relegate 2 of my new kits to a what if scheme.. I will be using my 1/144 Revell B-2 Bomber, and the Dragon 1/144 F-117A..

My thinking.. With the popular demand for hybrid automobiles, the need for oil has waned, and the importance and influence of the arab nations has come to a non existant concern, and so the threat of unstable governments come in the way of Asia..

With the upgading of the Indonesian and Malaysian military. Australia has decided that a complete rethink and upgrade of its own forces are a necissary issue.. So with much disscussion, Australia decided to leave the addage of buying what ever they can for the best price, and decide that military might and protection is a must..

In saying this, with the help of the US Government.. (Its in the US's best interest) the Australian government builds a secret base in the Australian desert to provide a home for the new arrivals of the Australian owned B-2 Bomber wing, and F-117A Stealth advanced attack squadron... This is the greatest, and most advanced upgrade to Australia's national interest in the history of Aircraft to wear the flying Kangaroo

Time for another BUMP!

Haven't had time to do much, just got back from the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Hope to start some dry fitting on the F-15s this weekend.

Cheers

How was it Ray?.. I have only been able to get a 5 minute daily wrap on abc Asia Pacific news here in Japan. And I have listened to a few events on the internet radio..

I dont know if its just me, but the Commonwealth Games are becomming a little like a non event.. Sure we have a million gold medals, but for me, unless you have the rest of the world competing, then it isnt as interesting.. I for one prefer seeing Australia at number 4 on the medal tally at the Olympics, rather than Australia number 1 and winning by 60 gold medals at the Commonwealth Games..

p.s.. You decals are gone on nicely.. Pics over on my other thread..

Hi Chris,

Well  must have missed the message notification!  Only a month ago!  The games went well, we saw some athletics, netball and the Rugby 7s finals.  We treid to get swimming and cycling tickets but missed out.  Gret ato be a part of it and really well organised.

I thought I would bring this thread back to page one. I have started assembly on my 2OCU F-15Ds. Have the cockpits in and fuselages buttoned up. Not going to town just OOB as I will be putting some pilots in them and doing a runway threshold diorama with them.  Pics to come soon.

Cheers

BUMP!

Not much to report, got sidetracked on some other projects, looks like one of the F-15Ds may become a USAF 65th Aggressor SQN bird, some nice decals coming out soon from Afterburner Decals

If I get time I will contribute a 1/72 TSR2 in RAAF colours for something different.
