new GB idea...ROK GB
Posted by jinithith2 on Friday, June 3, 2005 2:01 PM
this group build will be devoted to the military or civilian equipment of the Republic Of Korea. the civillian equipment would be hyondae, daewoo, kia etc korean car brands (they are korean. I'm really saddened to see that people think they're japenese) the military ones can be anything from tanks to a/c and navy/marine stuff.
this is only an idea, to see what people think and how many are willing to participate.
I think I'm going to do the F-5E korean version.

members in so far:
jinithith2- haven't decided but leaning towards an ROK F-5E
PakNick-40- ROK F-16

Wy don't you go out to Google and research some ROK aircraft pics and post them here? (hint hint, helping you build up your appeal on the GB)

I did a simple Google search for ROK Aircraft and came up with many pages... one of which I learned the ROK used both the IL-10 Soviet fighter AND the P-51D.

yeah they are for a flight-sim but I guarantee those guys do as much research as modelers most of the time...

---edit---

I see you got negative after 40 minutes and no one joining your GB. My Midway GB was up for 4 days before anyone replied except 2 people from another GB I was in, now I have about 20 people in on it... you have to be patient... negative posts like that might drive people away...
---Tom--- O' brave new world, That has such people in it!

Always can print your own decals on Testors or Micromark decal paper. i did that for some Red Chinese markings. Just a thought.

$6.95 for 5 sheets(8.5x11) @ micromark, cheaper per sheet if you buy in bulk. Google on the web and you'll find other souces. You need a fixatibe spray also, Krylon Crystal Clear works.

I am still considering joining this GB, though I am literally up to my work bench in kits being built for GB's!! I was intrigued by the F-15K and for those of you considering one here are a few sites I was able to get some info from:

http://www.deagel.com/pandora/?p=pm00074006

http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2005/q1/nr_050316s.html

http://www.boeing.com/news/releases/2005/photorelease/q1/pr_050303n.html

http://www.military.com/soldiertech/0,14632,Soldiertech_F15K,,00.html

http://www.faqs.org/docs/air/avf15_2.html

The Boeing Company will deliver the first few F-15K's by the end of the year, with the rest manufactured locally. I would hope that a good Korean kit company (hint -AcademyBig Smile [:D]) wil pick up on this and release a version soon. Anywho, Enjoy! - Calvin
