Idea for a GB sometime in the future.

I have an idea for a GB for a “next year” start to run by everyone. I was thinking of all the static display pieces of military equipments scattered all over the place. Tanks, field artillery pieces, personnel carriers, aircraft… all sitting in a static display out front of a VFW hall or air bases etc. I even have a Huey Cobra on some sort of stand in a parking lot across from a fire dept nearby.

How about a build recreating anything that is on display. Could call it something like…”Once Were Warriors” …well… you get the idea. (BTW that also happens to be the title of a fantastic flick about modern day problems of the Maori people of NZ…a must see) Colors may be way off… markings all convoluted… parts wrong or made up like a broom stick as a gun barrel but the build will have to as accurately as possible duplicate the display piece right down to the broom stick. After all, we are scale modelers are we not…. modeling things that do or did exist. But there would be a HUGE amount of leeway given. . If there is interest we can figure the rules later but it will at least have to have a photo of the real item to corroborate the model. Opens up a nice possibility for a diorama too. Then maybe donate the finished pieces to the organization that has the real article. That would of course be voluntary.

Good idea for a GB Wing_nut. Planes, ships, tanks and artillery are a given. If you don't narrow it down to just military subjects it could include just about everything from sci-fi to figures to cars too. The original Star trek enterprise studio model is on display in the Smithsonian. Wax museums have displays of figures. There are lots of automobile museums all around the world.

Cool, I'm in. We've got everything from a B-29 to a Fleet Sub here in Oklahoma.

hmmm this does sound interesting... sadly the things near me like that aren't made in kits (USS Texas, USS Cavalla etc...) I could try to mod a Cavalla from a Gato class to an SSK, never done it on a ship type thing though.. (only built a few ships in my life, who am I kidding? haha) ... I'll get back to you on this...

I could be interested. This could be a good excuse to do an F-107. Eother the one at Pima or at the Air Force Museum. I'll keep an eye on this one.
