Ok I'm done, I think I'll take the badge now

OHHHH WAIT, have to tell you what I did first! Ok I spent two seconds picking two peices, one second gluing, and two whole seconds PAINTING!!!!!!!!!! wow, I've outdone myself this time!

OH YEA!!

Heres my build, I painted it a plastic color with aluminum barrel!

Great!! One thing though, why didn't you just use different color sprue? It would have cut down on your painting time allowing you to get the badge a couple of minutes faster Big Smile [:D]

Just think of the possibilties...

You coulddo a german subject if the plastic sprues you glued together were gray..automotive if they were chrome, even stealth if they were clear...

I know, it's late on a Saturday night, and I'm just here to make sure everyone behaves.

Neat idea Ralph, we need to loosen this place up a bit.

This IS a fun hobby that we all participate in, yes, however, there are some forms of forum etiquette that noobs wouldn't understand. I'd say that this thread, through good sarcasm, has managed to sum up very well what the current sorry state of the GBs are.

Maybe you'd like to start your own Warsaw Pact-themed build similar to this one. Participants would merely find other modelers who had already done the work and appropriate their output for The People. I can see it now: Sprue Gluing Collective #34, complete with oversized posters of Comrade Sergei himself adorning all the walls Evil [}:)]

Dude, they're cheap - take 2 if you like! The motto of this build (and I use that term very loosely) is "No pain, maximum gain!!!" In fact, given how popular this is turning out to be, we're probably going to have to run another one in 2006 Wink [;)]

Ghettochild,

I don't see why you couldn't use a previously built model, or even share this build with anohter group (assuming you could find one that would take you :-). Of course, the fact that you glued two pieces of sprue together last month may be a sign that it's time to consider a slightly more advanced model for the next time around.

If you use enough glue, they won't fall apart. One of those orange tubes of glue will probably suffice. Plus, once you've put the model in your circular display case (the one under the kitchen sink is probably best), who is going to know?

haha, that is awesome. Does the glue have to be dry before posting accomplishment and stealing the badge? What if I do a bad job of glueing the peices together, and they fall apart? Do I then have to delete said Group Badge?

I'm tired of having to spend all of this time selecting a kit, meeting some silly "rules" for a group build, actually assembling the model, taking pictures of it, etc., all just to add another GB badge to my vast collection.

So, I'm proposing a group build where the only focus is to get another badge. The requirement for "wearing" the badge proudly is to glue 2 pieces of plastic together (leftover sprue is probably best for this purpose) and assert that you did so; photographic evidence is not required. Use of PE/AM/POS details is strictly forbidden; this just isn't that kind of group build.

Proposed badge for this build

No need to let me know if you're interested - just post a message about your "model" and grab a copy of the badge. Enjoy.
