new to this forum
Posted by racer155 on Friday, December 15, 2006 9:36 PM

Hi everyone! my name is Marcelo, I'm new to this forum but I've been part of the MotoGP group build for a few months now.

I'm a huge fan of Robotech and I was wondering if you could tell me which brand is the "Tamiya" of Robotech kits. I know Bandai and Hasegawa but I don't know how detailed or big they are.

Also, who has the most kits available, all Valkyre generations, Batroids and stuff.

Any other information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Haven't touched my -19 in a while now.  Its primed, but needs paint and decals.... I'll get back to it soon.

My VF-19's subassemblies are ready to paint, but I still have no idea what color scheme to finish my VF-22 in. The VF-0, decaling is incomplete.

I've got to post more images of mine. I'm woirking on the engine pods with filling and sanding. Yours came out great. How did you mount it? It looks like you have an acrylic rod in the back. How does it attach to the model?

I have the Club-M VF-4... It's a really nice looking ship. The decals aren't exactly right on mine (i just pilfered my pile of Hasegawa decals).

Back again. Since I've lost one of the leg sub-assemblies to my VF-1 Battroid, I've started my 1/72 VF-4 resin kit. I plan to finish it as a 'Skull One' squadron leader.

I've got a bit of a gap in height between the nose cone piece and the fuselage piece. I'm thinking of trying to wrap a styrene strip around the upper fuselage half of the join an blending in to the rest of the fuselage through sanding and putty.

is this GB still going?  I'm in the process of unpacking after a move so I'll try to get up and running soon.  If I remember correctly, I'm almost done with my Tactical Pod for this GB.  I'll try to post some pics soon.

My man-cave is out-of order at the moment while the interior of my 1:1 house is being refinished. I'm down, but not out!

Hey Cobra, I hate to do this to you (and me) but I did something wrong...I hate to admit it...I was really bummed out about it (for about a week)....so prepare yourself...

My YF-19's wings are on backwards...and so are yours. It's not a huge issue. I didn't notice it until I started putting on the decals, and the panels lines didn't match. Boohoo [BH] By that time it was way too late to switch 'em cuz the big black wing decals were already micro-sol'd on.

...but, I got over it. Smile [:)]

Ok, so its been a couple weeks.  I finally got around to starting my VF-19.  Got her together, filled and primed.  VERY nice kit overall.  I'm leaving off the exhausts until the whole paint job is done.  Gonna actually spray her camo today.  Hope you guys like her!  (Oh, and Trigger's already pointed out the overspray on the cockpit.  Gonna take care of that too!)

Lookin sweet Vin!

I just started mine today.  Going together pretty well, no major glitches.  It fits as well as any other 72nd Hase kit I've built, which is pretty impressive!  I've made it a single-seater by blanking off the back seat area with a turtle deck and have tweaked the cockpit a little bit.  I forgot how tiny 72nd is!

Should get some pics up either today or tomorrow.

*sigh* No, I have not yet decided a finish for either my VF-22S or my VF-19A. So I guess I'll open the floor to an informal poll amongst my fellow builders.

Here's the Final Four considerations I've narrowed down for my VF-22S:

1 - Just a cool looking finish

2 - Ever notice how a lot of these battles seem to take place either in cities or on moons/asteroids? This would work well as camouflage in all three of the VF-22s modes

3 - Based off of the VF-19 splinter scheme, but this could work for the VF-22S for the same reason as the previous

4 - The Dark Gray/White Scheme - it's interesting, and I've got the decals for this one.

Here's the Final Four considerations I've narrowed down to for my VF-19A:

1 - Boring camouflage, but the Sundowners markings really stand out

2 - Don't know how effective this camouflage really is, but it just looks cool

3 - Yup, it's still in consideration for the -19. Now, If I do this scheme for one build, I'm not going to finish 'em both like this, so if this scheme is your pick, make sure you say which type (VF-19 or VF-22) you want to see it on

4 - A black VF-19A with either gray, red or full color markings

Now, since this isn't an actual contest, there are no prizes save the satisfaction of group participation (it is a GB after all ;)). While I don't care if you post your voice here, or pm me or send a smoke signal... I think since this is an open forum we should make our comments on this particular topic public.  If you like something you see - cool. If you think these finalists look like something a chimp would fling at you, then let me know and why you think that. If you've got a point, I'll listen.

I'm not doing a VF-22. Are you thinking of another member's build?

Oops! It was Trigger's post. Sorry.

So Trigger, have you decided what color scheme to use?

My -19 arrived today! It took exactly a month to get here.  Just watched Macross Plus Vol 1 to get in the mood.  Its gonna be a while before I really get to this bird, but I am going forward with the SVF-32  paint scheme (thanks Grant!).  Now to pick out some good nose art to put on it!

Boy, I haven't been productive since before Christmas. I got to get cracking again. I had purchased a VF-4G resin kit before Christmas and I'd like to work on that after my battroid instead of the VF-22S.

Vinny, what are you going to use for the VF-22's paint scheme? I had always fancied a new version of a 'Skull Leader' for mine.

Jimmy, the Glaug is comming along nicely.

Bump/Progress Report...

VF-1S Status:

VF-22S Status:

Pre-shading to begin once I settle on a color scheme.

Colors got blown out due to the lighting (I wanted to show the visor), but I based the pilot's color scheme off of a combination of current flight suits and gear, with a little of the new Battlestar Galactica production design thrown in. I decided to make his visor a dark metallic gray instead of pure black so you can't tell if it's a visor, or some sort of VR display (a little bit of a Ghost in the Shell influence on that decision). Plus it just looks good.

here are some progress pics of my Tactical Pod Glaug.  I'm almost done painting, but there are some seams that I need to fix still.

so I've made some progress painting individual parts on my Tactical Pod Glaug, but need to tackle some serious seams that are going to arise once I start gluing things together!  I'll post some pics soon.
