I don't want to be picky, but I have a 1/72 scale model of a Corsair. Could you change your scale requirements or are you going to stick to your guns with the 1/48 scale preference? Again, I don't want to sound bossy, it's your GB.

I don't build many planes but I will be starting a Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1A in April or May so I am in.  Building the 1/72 F4U-1D for that WWII carrier aircraft GB already so I won't count that in.  GBs force me to build more kits cuz otherwise I get lazy by keeping myself busy working.

I'm in.....

I'm working on a AC 1:48 Dauntless right now. I plan to start on a Corsair as well. So, I'll submit either one or maybe both.

I already have some progress pics so let me know what you think.

This is the AM's Coral Sea Dauntless 1:48. It's a pretty good kit but very intricate. Cockpit was kinda tricky but that's AM's MO. This is my first attempt at preshaded panel lines.Big Smile [:D]

Hey all,

Here is some more progress pics for the GB. I'm almost done with this one.  I did some weathering before the fragile pieces go on. Did some pastel rubs with blues, yellows and white. Also did the sludge with some chipping. Hope you like.......

darn, the GB hasn't started yet... and you are practically done...  a good job nonetheless.  as for rubbing pastel into the panel, do u just rub in the center of the panel or the whole thing?

Thanks Ryan....

I'll drag this build out so I don't finish before the start date. With the rub, I just start in the center of the panel and work my way outward. I keep the concentration of color in the center of the panel for good contrast.

Sounds good! By the way, I didn't say what I'm going to build, so here it is:

Tamiya 1:48 F4U-1A (got it on ebay for $9.99+$5 shipping- Great deal or what?) I plan on building it into a diorama of a pacific island (any suggestions for realistic 1:48 palm trees?)

Okay, how about these ones:

a flight of corsairs or any kind of fighter (kind of like my avatar)

A dogfight scene, maybe?

Any other suggestions would be welcome!

Add me to the list....  I will do the P-38M (the Monogram kit with the conversion parts).  I will Try to do some more research as well, and try to give some unit history of the plane when done.  I have started, but will not be anywhere near finished till fall.

Badge looks good Jaypack. I'll give it a try.

Also,  I'm going to go ahead and do a 1:48 VF-17 corsair for this GB in addition to my Dauntless. I've finished the Dauntless so I'll post some pics soon.

Maybe I should change the name to " VF-17 corsair GB"Smile [:)]! Actually...maybe not. I guess it's just 2 or 3 people (out of 5-6(?)). Anyway, I'm glad that someone is doing a build similar to mine, so I can suffer along with somebodyLaugh [(-D]

I could join.  I'll be building a 1/72 Hasegawa Wildcat with True Details cocpit set.    BTW, is the photo on the badge a screen shot from Microsoft flight combat sim 2?  just wondering

OK, cool! It's good to see that more people are interested in this GB!

And no, actually, it's a screenshot from UBI's "pacific fighters", edited to have a background of a real picture of the islands in Palau.

BTW, if you don't have pacific fighters already, and have a medium to high-end computer, I suggest you get it. It's a huge improvement over CFS2, in nearly all aspects. (you might want a video accelerator card for this baby). It's available at most gaming/computer/electronics stores for around $20 (it might be cheaper now). Just my opinion...

Hey all,
I know the build hasn't even started but I did finish one of the two planes I will do for this GB. This was an AM 1:48 kit. It was a great kit with very good details and fit. I'm really starting to like their kits more and more. The last pic is a simple presentation I made  from the idea of FSM member  "jamalone". Enjoy!

Beautiful Dauntless. The weathering is well executed too. Cool base.

Check out this website; http://www.miniaturetree.com/   A architectural model building shop that I have used for a construction project ($25M sized job) told me about this site.  Thumbs Up [tup]  If you go do a search for "diorama palm trees" you'll get some links to check out as well.

Jaypack, I think I'll join, if you don't mind. I'll be offering a 1/48 Tamiya Zero A6M2 (Saburo Sakai's), unless you only want US birds. Only thing is I haven't got it yet, so I'll be sidelining it for the first part of the GB.
