CBI Group Build
Posted by Tankmaster7 on Saturday, April 15, 2006 9:35 AM
Just wondering, withall these theater specific GB's going on, I have never seen one for the CBI theater. Would there be any interest in a GB for this? (Don't worry, I'm not thinking of starting this one any time soon, maybe September...) Just post here if there would be any interest, and maybe I could get it started at some point.Smile [:)]

I agree the CBI theater is lacking.  The research alone would be a good challenge as it is a theater that has gone underwritten comparied to the rest of the war.

Would a B-25 as one of the Doolittle radiers count, since the mission ended in China (though not as planned)?  Also, would Jap planes as far back as 1931 be allowed (when their little 'war' started with China)?

If this starts in the fall, I could join in on it.  Give me some time to consider the theater and what I might want to build.

Tanky-I've got a couple of kits that would fit this build.  Depending on my work situation, I will make an effort to join this GB if you start in September (or later!).

technically they did plan to LAND in china, not CRASH as was the result due to the early take-off.  there wasn't anything being thought of landing B-25s back on the carrier and russia didn't want them.

I am redoing my accurate miniature P-51A after screwing it up while building for Mosquito Con in a rush, which is kinda sad since I didn't make it there either.  This time it will have verlinden interior, control surface, n engine sets.  I already broke the hinges off the of inside landing gear doors due to the original process making the fighter with the flaps up and hydrolic system still in effect.  The decal set included only allows a burma based fighter so that will do for the GB.

Tanky, the CBI Campaign would certainly be an interesting GB.  I've got a couple of P-40 kits that would qualify.  Depending on the time frame, I'd join in.

Tanky, you da man!Big Smile [:D] I've been waiting for this one for a while but with all the GB's going currently I just wouldn't have time.  A late 2006 start would be excellent!  I've got in mind a P-47 from one of the British Squadrons.  IMHO it is the coolest paint job on the thunderbolt!

So count me in!Tongue [:P]
