Hang in there Tanky-I'm looking forward to seeing your finished build.  I love the AM Mustang, but the two that I have build gave me fits.

I have my Academy P-40c on the bookcase, without the canopy attached, missing the landing gear covers (one of them is MIA) or any weathering done.  Maybe one of these days...Whistling [:-^]

I'm not dead yet!!!!!

I have the airframe assembled, I just neeed to rescribe a few lines and fix some canopy fit problems, then I can paint!!

Whew, now that AP/SAT/SATII are over, it's build time!

Thanks Tanky.  Oh, I found the little clear part that the carpet monster ate and attached it to the P-40E.  Smile [:)]

Well worth the effort, Scott.  A nicely executed P-40E, one that Ed Rector himself would probably be proud of.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Bob and Rick, I appreciate the comments.  I've been pushing myself with every build, trying to improve my skills and I must say I learned a lot on this one.  I tried to do a decent job on the seams, and all that practice filling and sanding is really paying off now on my CA 1/48 Bf109D.  Smile [:)]  This P-40 had a few new firsts for me, silly putty technique for the fuselage camo, first PE seatbelts and first serious seamwork.

I'm going to take some more pictures on Sunday if I get some time and try to improve the lighting.  I was just using the overhead lights in my spray booth and a reading/desk lamp that my daughter was kind enough to position and hold for me while was taking the shots.  I need a few more lights to help eliminate the shadows.

Hey guys, here are a few of the final photos.  Most of you know I like to do a full write up on the plane, pilot and the kit, including trouble spots etc.  I'm booked solid for the next 48 hours, so hopefully I can have the full write up posted by Sunday.

Anyway, here is my final submission for this build.  Thanks to everyone for their help, input and moral support, I really appreciate it!  And again, sorry for being late.  I really enjoyed this build.  Smile [:)]

The seats and belts looked a little clean when I took those photos, so I blew out the kleenex "dust" and did a quick oil wash on them.  I also noticed that I had forgotten to fill the antenna hole right behind the cockpit (an issue due to the modular design of Hasegawa's series of P-40s).  I dabbed a bit of white glue into the hole and will give it a quick swipe with some dark earth tonight.  Black Eye [B)]

But Columbus, the worlda.... she is a flat!  Dunce [D)]

Here's the P-40E after the flat coat.  I used about a 5 to 1 ratio of Future to Tamiya Flat Base X21.  (remember to install the gunsight.... remember to install the gunsight... remember....)
