The group build that wont die.... but probably should.  Dead [xx(]

Well, believe it or not the detail work on my 1/72 PT-109 is about done and the paint is about to fly.  The last thing to do are railings for the turrets.  I'll try and organize some photos, hopefully by this weekend.

Hi Folks

I anticipate 1-2 months to complete.

Time permitting I'm presently building the gun mounts and sights for my 0.5" Vickers power operated turret. Next job is to detail the deck, then build the 20mm Oerkilon & depth charge racks followed by the mast, then paint and then rig.

Crew are nearly sorted. The base then needs painting and finishing.

I'm easily 1/2 way through my project.  I'm bogged down on the torpedo tubes.  I'm going to take a run at casting new tubes this weekend.  Once I get past that I should be in for some smooth sailing.  Err... until I get to the depression rails.  Sigh [sigh]

Well, I really need to find out where everyone is at in their builds, so we can project a realistic timeline.  We are trying to get more people into building PT boats, so the more pics we can have up at the end, the better. If you all could give me some idea of where you are at, it would be great !

As stated, those who finish by December first get a huge headstart, so carve that styrene!!!!

Hi Greg,

My Vosper is progressing slowly (too much time was spent doing my job, not hobby Sad [:(]).

I did no paint jobs yet, but I can say, that 60-70% of work with plastic is done. I think, it will take about 1-2months to complete it.

I will try to post some pictures next week.

Best regards and thank you,
Oleg

June 19th was the start of repairs on my house. Contractor took over my garage to store his tools and materials and my studio has been disrupted by the work. Nearly five months later and he's finally done. I saved a lot of money but next time I think I may try five guys for a month instead of one guy for five.

Anyway... by the end of the week I should have both studio and garage back and return to work on my S-boote and Sonora (derived from the Sultana kit).  I've abandoned the PT-109 kit for now.

Glad I'm not the only delinquent.

It would be great to hear from everyone, and see some pics, of their PT boats so far...I know, we only have a few weeks to go !  Perhaps this weekend, we could look forward to some new photos? (yeah, yeah, I am one of the worst about posting work-in-progress)

Other than some touch ups on the deck, I'd say I'm about 1/2 way there Greg Tongue [:P]  Still need to do the guns & torp tubes, attach the deck & paint...

The person who sent them to me indicated this was PT589 and were dated 2MAR45.  The early boats would have been similar, but I'll have to go through my ELCO drawings to give you a better answer.

No, but I've posted two taken from inside the lazarette.  One is looking at the transom, the other is looking to port.  www.coastalforcesplans.com  "References"
