Spanish Civil War GB.

Welcome to the Spanish Civil War Group Build

As the name suggests this GB will cover any subjects, ie aircraft, armour, warships, involved in the Spanish Civil War.

Rules

GB will start 1st October 2006

GB will end 1st April 2007 (Anniversary of the day the war ended)

Any scale.

Any medium.

No badge as yet, but if someone feels like providing one, I'll post it.

Hmm, another GB I really want to do, will I get time to do this one? who knows? Right now I want to so put me down as a maybe for a 1:72 Heinkel He-51 by Hasegawa, they have a spanish civil war kit for this one.

Welcome aboard guys, and thanks for signing up.

Jay, nice choice, didn't even know Hasa did the He 51.

Scott, I built the Academy I-16 a while back, great little kit.

Rick, the CA 109A sounds like a winner.

I put the dates out a bit, as I know everyone is socked in with GBs at the moment.

Names are now on the front, and currently only, page. Big Smile [:D]

Dave, duly added as a probable. I purposely spread the dates over a 6 month period to allow plenty of time to participate.

Domi, glad to have you aboard. Nice choice by the way.

Looking at many of the aircraft involved the war 1/72 looks like the scale to go for, particularly for the rarer types.

Karl, I didn't know Hasegawa did one either, I really like the He51 as one of my favourite 1930's biplanes and I knew it was used in the Spanish civl war. So I looked up Heinkel He51 on Greatmodels and up popped the Hasegawa 1:72 kit, with the Spanish civil war marking in the box! I didin't order it as once I saw the pic of the box I remembered I had seen it at an LHS around here.

Have a look a through the aircraft link, there's more fringe in there than even you can shake a stick at!!!! Evil [}:)]

Tom, the later releases from Roden, particularly the WW1 A/C like the SE5a, Sopwith Camel, Felixstowe flying boat, are well up to par. Equal to Eduard's latest releases, why what did you have in mind?

Revell's re-release of the old , but good, Esci Hs 123 is tempting, particularly in the early Luftwaffe splinter camo.

Karl - I was checking out their He111-B Pedro... I might step on down to the (NS)LHS and see if they have it in and take a gander at the pieces... I would hate to get something on the lines of that Pegasus Fairey Fulmar I was going to build for last years BoB Gb...

Tom I've built one of the Roden 1/72 scale kits and it was great. Lots of detail but the fit of some parts was a bit fussy. Overall I would definitley try another one of their kits. They are defintely not shake and bake but hey... if you want fringe you have to pay the price. Big Smile [:D]

Absolutely! Fringe forgives all!

Any suggestions on colour charts for this build, I am thinking as a pre-war the codes may not be the same, especially for in-theatre applications.

That kit looks nice Karl. I don't know that much about the Spanish Civil War, but am beginning my research, so as long as the Type 10 was there, I will build that Eduard kit. Smile [:)]

Hey Karl, you can put me down for a 1/72 Supermodel Fiat Cr 32. I also have a Heller He 112 B in the stash and couldn't decide but all the great photos of the Cr 32 in the site Gera gave us sealed it for me. I won't be able to start until January though.
