Hmmm.  If were both doing the same kit I may switch to a f4U or F6F.

If it's easier for you, I'll revert back to my original plan of doing the Hasegawa 1/72 F-14A of VF-84. (Gives me a good excuse to buy it!!) Whistling [:-^]

Ordered my kit, Tamiya 1:48 F4U-1A Corsair, today. Along with a Tamiya 1:48 Brewster B-339 Buffalo "Pacific Theater", a Classic Airframes Brewster F2A-1 Buffalo (where did this fascination with Buffalos come from?) another Tamiya F4F-4 Wildcat, and a Tamiya 1:48 Tiger I Initial Production "Africa-Corps" (first armor kit Cool [8D]).

Ouch, my aching Visa card Big Smile [:D]

Frank I suppose it really doesnt matter.  Its doubtfull right now that I would change.  I have the F-4 kit in the stash so Im thinking thats what I will build.  The wife has put her foot down and insists that I get my 1:1 project on the road or sell it lol.  I aint selling it so I guess I might as well drive it.  So needless to say my cash is being funneled that way, instead of buying more kits.  But we could use a second vehicle on the road so its a good choice and I would much rather drive it 74 Bronco than our Honda even with gas prices where they are these days.

So I'm doing my research, and I'm trying to figure out what load-out to use for the Super Bug.  I'd like to have a maximum loaded-to-the-gills look for this one, as it'll be going on my living room display case when I'm done, but the kit only comes with two AIM-9X Sidewinders and (I believe...I'm at work, can't check) a couple Sparrows.  Are they still carrying the HARM missiles?  Anyone have any pics of a fully loaded Super Hornet?  Doesn't have to be VF-103 specifically, just a carrier-based Bug so I can get the load right. :)

Living Legend: OK, I'm going to do the 1/72 Hasegawa F-14A of VF-84... And I hear ya about those gas prices...I commute 120 miles roundtrip a day, and we traded our '04 Escape in for an '05 Escape Hybrid...with the tax credit ($2,000) and the money it's saved us on gas (around $75 a week), it has already made up the price difference...and the newer one has more options...hybrids are the way to go.

John: I believe the SuperBugs carry SLAM-ER's which look like, but are a little longer than, HARM's.

I've seen other models of SuperBugs with a loadout of SLAM's, JDAM's, AMRAAM's and THANK-YA-KINDLY MAAM's (sorry, I had to... Laugh [(-D] )

Got room for one more?

Although I am new to this concept of "group builds", I am presently working in the Figures group and this one caught my attention.  This may even give me the motivation to finally get off my buttocks and start building the 1/72 Hasegawa Atlantic Coast Squadrons F-14A kit that I picked up several years ago.  I would be building this as a VF-84 aircraft that was the first "fleet" aircraft to land on the USS Abraham Lincoln when I was onboard.  For those who might not know, the flight deck is first certified by pilots and aircraft from Pax River, or at least that is where they came from back then, after that, the CO is typically the first to land an aircraft from a fleet squadron.

I will be getting extremely busy at work in September, but I should still make our deadline without a problem.  Let me know if you have room for one more, and I will be glad to jump in.

I'm in if you'll allow an auto guy to screw up a plane! Wink [;)] This will be just the motivation I need to get going, as I have a mission to build justabout every JR plane available. Just could not get so far as to get started - a new auto just keeps popping up if another is completed... Blush [:I]
Will have to have a look at the stash to decide, but most likely an OTB 1:48 Hasegawa F14B (VF-103).

Wow!  Both designs look great!  This will be a tough vote, so I will keep my eyes open, and get to the polls when necessary.

On a spearate note, thanks for letting me join the group, and I need some help already as I want to figure out how to attach photos to my responses.  This will clearly be beneficial for showing progress later on.  I am more accustomed to using different software, so I need some directions for getting photos to load here.  Thanks in advance for any assistance with this.
