Thanks, Ron. Glad you enjoyed it. Overall, it's a really good kit. The trailer is reinforced with small steel strips and screws, so don't worry about bowing the trailer with a "heavy" load. All of the recovery equipment is workable (winches, ramps, drawbar). It would be great for some sort of recovery diorama as its so versatile. I chose not to get carried away and built an "in transit" load, instead. The few things I found lacking were minor details - mostly in the cab interior. I also didn't like the look of the "wood" chock blocks, rub rails, etc. so I made my own out of balsa wood instead.

I got this kit from Hobbyland an sale for around $80. Hobbyland seems to have better pricing on the big stuff -I bought the Leopold Railroad Gun from them also.

Just some progress pixs of the Dragon Wagon. Still have a wee bit of washing to do and then it's time to weather. Don't know if I'll leave the Whirbelwind on the back or not. I hope to have my photo taking operation perfected by then.

Finally finished with this one and I am alot happier with the model than the photos.  I returned to modelling after about 12 years and tried new products and techniques.  Here is the proof!

The Daimler is all done now, apart from the final flat coat drying, attaching the wheels and finishing the exhaust. It should be good to go for the original March 1 deadline.

I've got the main paint job done. Just a couple of touch ups, some decals and lots of weathering to go now. The flash has faded the green quite a lot, and the black also.

The Daimler Armored Car that I'm doing for this and the Light Armor GB has finally risen to the top of the modelling heap, following completion of my figure for the Figures GB.

Well... since I have not posted to this group since I joined, I thought I would show you all what wheels I'm building (all 20 of them!)   This is the Trumpeter 1/35 BR-52 Kriegslocomotive.  I'm building the camo version.

Here is the loco's frame subassembly.  I had to start preliminary weathering at this stage because it all shows but wil be inaccessable later.

here is a mock up of the cab. 

Actually I think my DML Sherman Firefly may have the match one of the marking options is a Mickey Mouse paint job if i remember right

<edit> It just has gunze and modelmaster numbers but if i give you those maybe you can cross reference somewhere  Gunze Aqueous hobby collor  H-80, Gunze Mr Color H-54, Model Master 1710 All are listed as "Khaki Green" I hope this helps.

I'm leaning towards the 'Mickey Mouse' scheme at the moment. I need some info to determine whether the camo pattern was soft or hard edged, and I also need a good match for the British Army green used in late war Europe.  I have access to humbrol and Taiya paints. Can anyone help ?

I salute your Grandad . Part of the Red Ball...that's tooo coool. As both a vet and a former trucker I can really appreciate what he did. That's like running the Ice Roads (across the frozen lakes) in Alaska or maybe a driving a road train thru Australia's outback. Road Trains are massive - far bigger than any rig you'd see here in the States and the roads those guys drive on....talk about unimproved.. For a trucker that's braggin rights, man!

All that pales compared to what your grandad, my grandad, and every other Allied veteran did - they went out to help save the world.

Hi Folks,

Construction is almost complete on my Daimler Armored Car, just putting some photoetched bits on it, then its off to the paint shop. Actuall, it doesn't physically move anymore, it's a virtual paint shop. 

This last in the piece I still can't decide between Western Desert or European Mickey Mouse scheme.

Does anyone have a colour match for the dark green ( was it called  bronze green ?) used on British armor in Europe late in the war ?

I can get Tamiya, Model Master, Humbrol or Gunze Sanyo colours fairly easily.

Don't sweat it dude. I'm just glad to be here. Kinda' cool that I've got the only "Wagon" in the build - so far anyway.

If you haven't made other arrangements yet, I'd be glad to give Tamiya's 1/35th (35102) Single 20mm FlaK with the Ground mount. I bought it for the limber that comes with it. I used this as the basis for a 20mm ammo trailer for a Wirbelwind I'm working on.

I've got all the paperwork and a full decal sheet - I just needed the half dozen or so parts for the trailer.
