RAAF, RAN, Australian Army Group Build
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, September 22, 2007 6:06 PM

OK here we go......

Any model, any scale, as long as it was used by either arm of the ADF (Or equivelant, so AFC aircraft are ok) and must be in australian markings. Aftermarket detail sets are ok (support those garage kit companies!), More than one model is encouraged and we should allow a certain amount of "what if" for aircraft that are deffinately coming into service (i.e. Superhornet and JSF) Start date is Sepctember O7 and finish ANZAC day next year (25/Apr/O8)

Let me know what your building so i can add it to the list here on the front page and anyone who can make logos go right ahead and see what we come up with.

Happy modelling!

If you like RAAF Mirages, have a look at this page. It's a Memorial Page for Paul 'Changa' Mason who co-wrote the RAAF Mirage book with Darren Mottram.

I might get in with this one, I have an Airfix Beaufighter TF.X 1/72. Can't be sure I'll get started on it for awhile though.

Great then, you can put me down for a 1/35 Grant in Australian colors, North Africa 1942. Pretty sure it's gonna have to be a Tamiya kit. Anyone gonna create a badge?

Guys,

How do you like this for a GB badge? It's my first attempt at one so I kept it simple. Comments?

Cheers!

G'day all. Just wanted to say that i think the new badge is great. Good job Aaron Skinner. Appreciate the effort you put into that.

A quick update. Sorry no pics at this stage. I pulled the Huey from my stash and cut the major parts from the sprues. Not much that is not warped here......lol. Thats what you get when you buy second hand kits........Whistling [:-^]. Lots of flash. Man we are spoilt with all the new technology of molds. I am using the old Monogram kit. Anyway, every part needs cleaning, fit is ordinary and i think i need to order more tubes of putty....Laugh [(-D]. I am still optimistic though!!!!!

Not much of an update from me. Personal life just got real complicated with a new job offer and an interstate move now looming, i also have an internship coming up with the ambulance service for uni, so modelling is deffinately on the backburner. The mirage is pretty crook after the accident so im still filling and sanding, but it is coming along slowly, i hope to have it at least undercoated black within the fortnight. The macchi on the other hand will stay unstarted for a while.

On the upside my 1/48 boomerang has arrived and i just nailed italeri's 1/48 Tiger with a set of aus decals, so there is a couple more for the stash. May have photoes

Doe anyone have any idea what colours are a good match for the martin baker ejection seats??

Hey Bushy, where did you get your Boomerang from? Is it the Kiwi Wings Boomerang? I have all three of their 1/48 Boomerangs. The CAC-12, CAC-13 and CAC-19. Only trouble is one of the vac formed canopies is missing. I need to find another one. Do you know of any aftermarket resin cockpits for Boomerangs?

Its the LTD model that i scored off ebay, not so expensive until i added shipping from the US   Confused [%-)]

Now, speaking of kiwi resin, on the red roo models sight, they have listed a CAC15 Kangaroo that is currently under construction by kiwi resin!!!!!!!!!!!!

No matter what price, im buying it! Conversely, does anyone know if there is a conversion set to make a gloster metero F8 out of tamiya's F3?

Hey boomer, i have a funny feeling that the LTD kit comes with a sparevac form canopy, when i get a chance ill ahve a look and we may be able to fix you up. Im also in the process of getting another LTD kit to use as a trade Big Smile [:D]

Anyway, update on the mirage. I have most of the holes and cracks filled and sanded, im just working on the area forward of the cannon bay and the wing root trying to get a decent looking underside. Fit problems left some steps in the plastic, soi should be re-scriving this weekend.

Does anyone have color suggestions for the martin baker seat cusions and seat belts??

Bushy.

I dont know what period your Mirage is from.  If it is post 1983, it would have the MB Mk 6 seat fitted.

Let me know if it is pre-1983, might be a Mk 4 ?
