Steve, thanks! I'm glad you like it. In retrospect, I should have gone lighter on the paint chipping and heavier on the paint fading. But hey, I like the Corsair and this is a beautiful kit. Plus I've got decals for three other planes!

I'm not sure if you're asking about the panel wash or faded panels, so I'll explain both. The light panel wash is put out by Promodeler, and it's really great stuff. I used the dark wash on the bottom surfaces. To make the lighter panels, I cranked my airbrush down to about 3 psi and thinned the paint down a lot. I lightened the base color with white and buffand then filled the panels in. Hope this helps!

RadMax, absolutely great build and well wort the wait to see it finished. I thin you nailed the well used and abused look to it. How did you do the light panells, I must have missed how you achieved that effect, very nice.

Alright I finally finished this bad boy off! I think it's one of my best so far! Special thanks to Leadas for the kit! I added some extras to my Corsair: Scratch built nav lights, True Details cockpit (not worth it!), ignition wires, built the flaps in the UP position, removed the tail hook, changed the direction of the tail wheel, made Tamiya's bomb rack more realistic, and used Eagle Strike decals, for Lt. Jg. Merl W. Davenport. His plane was stationed at Bougainville in 1944. Hope you guys like it!

Great work RadMax! I love the light color you used for panelling the aircraft.

I think it looks more than just ok!

Ok guys, finally got some good work done on the Corsair. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here it goes!

A question for all the critics out there: Is the white wash on the dark blue too much? Sometimes I think it looks ok, others not so much. Thanks for looking!

Great work so far man.  Looks like we've got two tri color Corsairs that may be landing at the same time !

I'm looking to make this one look well used... I made the cockpit pretty weathered, so I figured I should match the exterior to that. This was a land-based bird, so it's going to have some ground grime on it. Now I just gotta figure out a good way to weather it... I'm thinking spray Tamiya Smoke along the panel lines of the white...

So it's slow going here... but I'll get it done one of these days! Here's my F-4U 1D backdated to a 1A. Paint is on! Paint fading is still in the works...

Questions and comments welcome!

Thanks Klaus!

I think I'll stick with the second version! Let's hope that I can manage to mix a match for the color I used, since I forgot to take notes!

Cheers,

Azgaron

Great work, Azgaron!
Sorry to hear about the color-mishap, but the second version looks way better!

Looks very nice from here Azgaron. I cant remember which colour it should be but the intermediate blue sure looks purdy.

Looks good to me.  The medium blue is what I've always seen on the underside, outer panels of a Corsair in a tri-color scheme.  She's coming along nicely

I did a repaint on the underside of the wings! It didn't turn out the way I had in mind, and I forgot to take notes of the mix!

I this Ok?

Dave, I heard that the wings where painted blue so they shouldn't show as much when folded!

Here's the latest progress!

Thanks Dave!

I'm not sure, I'm only following the instructions! Smile [:)] I think I've read somewhere that they should be Navy blue, but as I said, I'm not sure!

Looking good Azgaron.  The preshade on the white wings looks great! Thumbs Up [tup]  I'm no expert by any means, but didn't the tri-colour scheme have the mid-blue on the undersides of the folding wings?

I did some painting yesterday!

Perhaps a tad bit too dark!
