Thanks alot!

I have another one (Fujimi) that I hope to finish also.   It's been sitting partially built for years.  I couldn't stand how thick the windsheild frame was in the kit.  I ended up destroying it while try to thin it out.  I tried a couple of times to make a new frame but was never happy with the results.  Maybe this time I'll learn to make something I'll be satisfied with, or just learn to be satisfied with something I make.

Well, it took longer that I planned but I finally finished my Cobra.  Nothing special, just built per the instructions.  I haven't completed a kit in years, so overall I'm pretty happy with the outcome.  I probably could have done a little more (ie. panel lines, detail paint, polish,...) but I really just wanted to complete this one.  Maybe next time.  Hope you guys like it.

i like the idea for the head rest, i never would have thought of using a cut up bomb casing. it looks like you should "taper" the head rest more, it just looks a little odd being level then tapering off to the body. looking good so far.

everybody feel free to copy my group build badge and at it to your profile

I'll join in.  One of my favorite kits of all time is the Revell/Monogram Shelby Cobra 427.  However...I'm currently working on three of the AMT 289 Cobras.  One, I've done as a "regular" car w/ the "normal" windshield and such.  The second car, I've filled the passenger area, filled the trunk lines, the door lines, and shaved all the lights.  I've also fabricated a head-rest from a cut-up 1/48 bomb shell.  For the third car, I'm using the "Custom Hardtop" that came with the kit.  I'll try to post pictures tomorrow night (Can't do it tonight...I've Valentine's Day, you know!)

Here's a linky to some of my work.....

I'm actually a bit further along and will try to post decent pictures soon.

To the OP: Thanks for headin' up the Group Build!

Here's what I've done so far.  Color is MM Guards Red.  I put a coated of Future on it before applying the decals.  Once I've got them all on, I'll give it a Future bath.  For most of the aluminum I just sprayed semi-gloss clear over the chrome part.

I'll join in.  I just started the Revell Cobra 427 S/C kit this weekend.  Going to be built box stock.  My only goal is to finish it as fast as possible, hopefully in the next couple of days.  I'll post some pics of my progress.

Well, I've got a bunch of Shelby kits stashed away, built, and in every state of build from new to  painted body shell, so I am in if this gets going. The hard is deciding what to build so I'll probably end up with several entries. I need to think about which ones, built I'll participate for sure.

ok seeing as how i've gotten around 30 views with only 1 responce, i'll expand it out. if shelby worked it, it'll be included in the All Shelby GB. Also accepted will be the Ford GT, the Series 1, and Cobras modeled as kit cars like mine (a Backdraft Roadster)

A suggestion, broaden it a bit to include any of the Shelby cars, such as the Daytona coupes,  GT-350's and 500's, GT40's.

I'm putting out the idea for an All Shelby Group Build. You pick the Shelby build it how you like, commit blasphemy like me and install a big block chevy....... post here and i'll add you to the list. Start date will be today, end date will be February 28, 2009, just over a year

navypitsnipe- monogram 1/24 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C  1988 release, powered by 454 LS6, custom steering column, fully plumbed, opened and detailed trunk

here's a pic of the engine, it'll get plumbed, a new intake, dual carbs, a custom exhaust manifold and a new turkey pan

here's the body with the trunk cut open, hopefully when i'm done with the trunk it'll look like.......

here are a few of the items for the car, MSD ignition, electric fan, large Tach, gauge cluster...

i'm looking to paint it like this...

but i'll use anthricite gray metallic for the stripes instead.
