Hi,

Sounds interesting... I've never participated in a group build before, is there an FAQ or something like that to explain more about what a "group build" is all about?

Thanks,

Rick

I would like to join as I to have never been in a GB, but I'm not sure if the ship I'm working on would be less than 50% or not . I don't think it's that far a long,as I still have a tremendous amount of work left to do, but I've already done a bunch. So I geuss I'm in unless if fellow members think I have to much completed to join.Smile [:)]

One of the first rules is that it's between you and the moderator, who can poll the rest of us if he/she wishes.

I f my application is rejected I understand and wish you all well with your builds. Even if I'm excepted I still wish you all luck and let the model GOD's steady your hands, and let your glue apply properly.Big Smile [:D]

Just to reiterate because I'm not sure I was clear- it's all between you and CorvetteMike. He is the boss..

I'm not sure what reading the rules means, there's always a little confusion about that from new GBers, and I'm no vet, but he can tell you what you need to know, and you can always PM if you want.

okay, I figured that this was his group build and that he would keep an eye on this thread, and that would also let other members give their approval or disapproval of my entering the build because of the work I have done. So I'll PM him and ask directly.

Oh I really want to be in this one, but already waaaaay behind on subscribed GBs

I know this is a selfish request, but could we extend the end date a bit more? Ships take a tad longer to build, usually and the later date will allow people to join in in a few months (summer)?

If I join, I have in the stash to think about:

WW1 - Airfix HMS Hood 1:700

WW2 - Tamiya Prinz Eugen 1:700 on the German side, Dragon USS Arizona 1:700 on the allied side, Fujimi IJN Chikuma Heavy Cruiser on the japan side.

Modern - Dragon USS San Diego 1:700 (cruiser) on NATO side, Dragon Admiral Ushakov 1:700 on the Warsaw side

Decisions decisions decisions! :)

(this beats working on the taxes lol)

Count me in.  I have a 1/700 Cleveland Class (Probably CL-81 Houston in Ms 32/1d).  It will be in a dio with the 1/700 Independence Class CVL (CVL-26 Monterey).

Ok, to start I'll possibly be doing USS Pittsburgh as she appeared after losing her bow in early 1945 or a modernized USS Canberra 1968. Quick question does a kit count as unstarted if it has been built and then dismantled and will now be rebuilt as another ship or even another class?

Jmart; I'm using 2 bismarck kits in 1/350 scale, I'm also using the main turrets from a 1/426 Arizona for my second battery ( the top pic ) I had to cut them down to fit in the side turret well. I extended the hull by 5"s and widened it by 1 3/4". I also took the tail end off the titanic and added that on , because I didn't care for the narrow end of the bismarck

Aj, that sounds like a very nice idea for the Pittsburgh. It would make for a interesting build.

Hi Mike,

I'd like to participate, if it is still open (I saw that the cutoff date appeared to be March 3rd).

My plans:

1.  USS Arizona (1/350, Trumpeter) with PE and possibly replacement barrels.

2.  USS Pennsylvania (1/700, Dragon), either OOB or with limited PE.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick, really looking forward to your build, curious to see the new Dragon Penn built up, got good reviews.

I will make up my mind next couple months once I clear my bench... will do either the Tamiya 1:700 Prinz Eugen or the Dragon USS San Diego

prowannab - I mean, yours looks DONE already, I have yet to wash the sprues of mine ;)

I like the camo job, some details are hard to see due to the light conditions in the pictures (I am no expert at taking pics, mine also look bad :(

One of the turrets (#2 I think) has the barrels NOT aligned, one is at a different arc. I forgot which BBs are the ones that can elevate individual barrels, which ones do not....  just letting you know :)   Look forward to the rest and the PE, those are sweet looking hatches!

Cheers, James

corvettemike - Put me down for the USS San Diego, Atlanta-class cruiser, 1:700 Dragon Premium kit :)  I am not very good but always have a blast!

Jmart ; Thank you for the advice on the mains , but that pic was just a mock up , I actually just glued the superstructure ( part of it anyway ) to the deck , so the barrels aren't really glued into their final position. Um you said nice looking hatches ? are you talking about the bottom pic ? if so that is actually the top of the funnels , just took a pic so I could show what I cut out of them to give a depth look.

Bondoman ; I think I'm going to use the SBD ( I think it is ) and since this is a " what if " build there is almost no limit to what my warped mind will come up with . So I figured since the keel was laid in '39 and the plans were started in atleast '35 , and carriers at that time were still in their infancy that my BB needs to reach out a bit further , So I'm going to add some torpedoe bombeers on her. Crazy I knowTongue [:P]

But in the meentime here is what I've done on the bridge.
