Darrson- for your review and posting on page 1; the Airfix Control Tower with AM bits in the windows from Flightpath. I'm about to scratch another actual Bob- red brick with white window frames. That'll get the full interior I did not use here.

Very sweet Scott, I really like the way this is turning out. Impressive motteling and the splinter scheme is spot on. Glad to see your finishing this one.

Dave -- I'm sorry I didn't get back on your finished BR-20! It's absolutely amazing, the finish, the scheme (well d'uh!), decals, everything. I think you raised the bar, mate, that one easily deserves to be in the mag. Exceptional work!

Scott -- beautiful work! This kit just builds so sweet, doesn't it?! Nice spray job, the early splinter scheme masks up sharp and neat. Nice mottle, too,  gotta try my hand at one of those jobs. It makes me want to drag out another Tamiya E-3, and I would except I have a dozen other projects in hand.

Mine has a couple of jobs to go, the carbon staining and taking a shot at the antenna wire, I might just devote an afternoon to it and get her finished. I also still have the Do 17 waiting, and fully intend to complete it, so there's still life in this GB!

Cheers, can't wait to see her done, Scott,

Mike

Hey guys, I'm in the finishing stages of my Bf 109E-3.  I just need to attach the wheels and exhaust, apply the decals and seal this baby up!  Big Smile [:D]

That is some great fantastic news jboutin! You just made me smile for the first time all week remembering those moments with my kids. ( who now take pleasure in taking my car) i REMEMBER 2 1/2 quite well as a practice for the even more rambunctous age of 3! Oh the stories I could tell you but your gonna live those out yourself. Enjoy every moment as they never get any smaller or get along any better than right now!  The only tip I have is invest in some earplugs. Not because of the noise the kids make but because your wife is gonna be hollering at them! uSUALLY WHILE SHE IS NEXT TO YOU!  Congrats my man! For that gift that never stops giving!

WOW Dave, that is a very nice looking Br.20  I love the camo job! Espins, good looking 109 too!

To all, an update on my new little one.  I've been sooo busy with him I just don't have much time for surfin the net.  Anyway, Jacob Peter was born 6 days overdue on November 17.  He was even bigger than my first son was.  Matthew just can't enough of Jacob.  I think he heard "stop", "don't" and "gentle" way too much the past month, ahh... 2 1/2 years, a fine age to tax a parents nerves!  All in all he has been very good with the new one, no asking us to take Jacob back to the hospital yet!

Hope everyone is doing alright and I have not forgotten about modelling, I just don't have the time a tthis point in my life.  I keep checking on this forum though to the keep the embers glowing till the day the fire can be stoked properly.

Dave, that thing is awsome my friend. The paint job is absolutely stunning. How in the world you had the patients to finish that is amazing. I dont have the skills to pull that off. You can be very proud of that build. Great job.

I use Tamiya Acrylcs exclusively so for the RLM02 I used a 1 to 1 mix of XF-49 Khaki and XF-22 RLM Grey.  The RLM71 was done using XF-61 Dark Green.  For air brushing I usually thin up to 50% with Tamiya Thinner X-20A.

The RLM65 (a two to one ratio of XF-23 Light Blue to XF-2 Flat White) was sprayed last night and covered the RLM02/RLM71 that was on the sides beautifully!  I'll be spraying the mottling tonight while everything is still masked to minimize the danger of overspray.  Burger [BG]

Tools in official RLM colors! I like it! Got a few clamps painted OD myself. The model is looking great and I'm glad you are finishing it. Dave the BR20 is a beauty.

Okay, my turn to drag this thread back up.  I started this build for the 2006 BoB GB and it sat on the shelf until a couple of months ago.  I had a hard time getting the canopy masking off (I put it on in 2006 Banged Head [banghead]) and I knocked a couple of side windows off trying to get the tape off but I managed to get them back in.  It's not perfect but it's done and there is one less shelf queen in my collection.

...and boy am I glad it is on the shelf!!!  Party [party]

The key to using the monkey wrench like that is to get the prop stick thingy anchored snugly and tightly right in the "croch" of the wrench so it's firmly supported.

Thanks for everyone's patience while I finish up another late project......  Sigh [sigh]  Laugh [(-D]

Great stuff! Scott! The wrench is well eclipsed by your fine work!  I am glad to see the GB still moving along! Don't tell SC though he will build another Hurricane. Confused [%-)]

Very nice Scott. I too love the model stand. Didnt 'They' say, Necessity is the Mother of invention? Sounds feasible. The paint is looking great. Did the darker colours take much to cover them?

Dave, you say the BR-20 is almost done. Woo hoo, this im looking forward too.

Thanks Dave.  That big monkey wrench is perfect for holding the plane by the prop thingy.  Then I just spin around the lazy susan as needed to spray.  Big Smile [:D]

My Br 20 is almost done.  Slowly picking away at the finishing touches.  Just a little bit of panel washing and  staining with a final clear coat beforeI can pull the masks off.  Hopefully this weekend.

Very sharp looking splinter camo work Scott. Nicely done. May I ask what colours are you using, they look a brownish colour or is it just the lighting in the photo. Cant wait to see this one done.

Ok, now that my Bf108 Taifun has been completed for the Weekend Madness GB, I can get back to work on the Bf109E-3.  If time allows I'll be masking and spraying the splinter scheme tonight.  Tongue [:P]

Tom T, fantastic looking Stuka and yes, it looks far better than the box pic. Top marks fella. Nice job.

Nice work Tom.  I would have never known that it was brush painted if you hadn't said so.  Good job.

This is a 1/48th scale Lindberg Stuka I just bought around Memorial Day and finished yesterday:

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Nice simple straightforward build-everthing went together with little or no fuss.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

My type of cockpit interior! Not all cluttered up with fiddley little details to mess up or hide when the fuselage is assembled.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The "flaperons" went on perfectly.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Now for the warpaint-as usual all done freehand by bristle brush, no masking whatsoever.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

With crew members like these, who cares about buried interior stuff!

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Then it began, I looked at the box art, instructions, and then the actual decals provided, and none of them added up-So I went to a really neat book I got for Luftwaffe squadrons of WWII for help and inspiration.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The result was I had to remove and re-install the wing bomb racks after the lower wing insignia decals.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

To apply the yellow to the lower wings and cowling was simple-with acrylics all I had to do was apply a piece of Scotch tape to the area, and the green paint came off perfectly!

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The cockpit framing was a 3:0 AM'er Sleepy [|)]

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The challenge was a yellow-tipped spinner with a black-green prop.

For this I put the prop nose down on a paint bottle lid, and slowly poured flat yellow paint into the lid until it reached the right point, then I blotted the tip with a paper towel for excess paint.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The repaired and installed bomb racks with the small bombs in place.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Finished aircraft with guns I made from a spare from a 50 cal Monogram kit.

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

The big bomb with trapeze gear

Lindberg JU-87" border="0" />

Close-up of squadron badge.

Lindberg Stuka" border="0" />

I think mine looks better then theirs!

Finally, after two hurricanes, etc., I am beginning the Hobby Craft Do-17Z:

I hate cockpit interiors! Dead [xx(]

For your information, I got sidetracked when the Lindberg line was re-issued a few weeks ago, and I couldn't resist re-building the JU-87 Stuka.

With darson's permission, I am entering it today.
