Hey, add me in there.  I've got a ton of Helo's, and just so happens my Bell Souix just got started.  Also...Does the V-22 count? If so, put me down for one of them too.

Count me in for a 1/48 Academy CH-46A/D Sea Knight "Marines Vietnam."  I don't think I'll be done before December 20, but I'd still like to participate.  Does anybody mind?

I'll join this one.

I'll build the Special Hobby's 1/48th Flettner FL265.

Since this one lasts through to December, it will give me time to get the BoB build done.

Cool.

Hellcat Man

Since you already put me on the list, put me down for a 1/72 Airfix Westland H.A.S. 22  (Sikorsky H-19), OOB.   (You reduce your stash one box at a time.)   Haven't decided whether to do it as a Marine HRS-1 from Korea or a Navy HO4S-1 in Antarctic hi-viz, but that's for later.

Hellcat man put me down for a SH-2F SEASPRITE by Revell.  I'm not too sure about the instructions paint scheme, so I'm goin to do some checking around.

Hi guys,

I've been tempted to join this build for a couple days now.  Like HellcatMan, I recognized a few months ago that there has been a complete absence of heli GBs.  I was thinking about starting one myself, but I was just too busy on other builds.  I think I can probably fit a heli kit into my schedule, but I might not be able to start for a couple months.  Put me down for this kit:

1/48 Heller/Italeri UH-1N (build as B-212 heliski chopper)

If things go faster than expected I have KA-50 Hokum in my stash that might come later.  We'll see.

Regards,
WH

ok,i had a few days off from work and managed to get a bit done..........1/48 oh-13

a fairly straightforward build but you have to be careful to line the boom up while glueing.

and so far i've used vallejo model air and tamiya paints.

Hellcat man, could I join up with a Monogram 1/32 AH-1G Cobra? I started the kit about two years ago, its less then 50% complete. The pit has been glued together and painted grey. I figure the Group Build with give me the motivation to finish it. Thanks

Hello everyone.

For those who arent familier with the FL 265, here is some quick info on what I'm making for this group build and some basic info on the kit itself. I will post again when I actually have done something that resembles progress.

The Flettner FL 265

The 1st operational use of a helo was not the the Sikorsky R-4 but the Luftwaffe with the Flettner Fl-265. The Luftwaffe turned to Flettner with his design of counter rotating intermeshing rotors. Here is a pick of the engine without the blades. When I first looked at this picture, I couldnt begin to imagine how this would have worked.

Only 5 airframes were built. They were used for observation and anti-submarine work from the decks of cruisers in the Baltic during 1939 and 1940.

Special Hobby's kit

A short-run, low-pressure injection molded kit. All the parts come in a one-piece box with the decals and resin bits bagged separately. There is one large sprue of medium grey plastic with very fine engraved detailing. All the parts have some flash on them. The resin pieces look well molded with no air bubbles. There is one nice and thick vacuform canopy. The decals are by Propagteam. Instructions are typical with 6 pages, of which 2 are history, parts and color diagrams. There are 4 construction steps that are logical in sequence. Apparently I have to do some scratchbuilding with the interior framework. It looks pretty sparse.

I will post again shortly when something is done, I just wanted to keep the Helicopter Group Build going. Not much activity here lately.

I've actually got the fuselage together on the Comanche, but only have pics of the cockpit.

I'm going to be gone for the next week or two, but I'll post more progress when I get back.

As soon as I figure out what the heck is wrong with my camera, I'll post my progress.

I was wondering if this whole GB crapped out or what.

well i've finally had time to complete the military version of this helicopter, after looking at many pictures of this heli i decided to do a generic version without any serial numbers etc as they all seemed to be different, as though they had been modified in the field.

its OOB so no fancy detail but it goes together quite well

i used vallejo model air for the main colours and a mix of humbrol and tamiya for the rest, sol and set of the decals and xtracrylic as a topcoat.

hope you like it

I think she looks great.  If you had added a red cross and some stretchers, I would almost swear she was at the 4077th!!!!  I really like what you did with her!

Well, a couple days ago I started the initial steps toward beginning my Bell 212 project.  It's not much to look at yet, LOL.  I'm finally approaching the end of a couple big projects, so I've started preparing to tackle this one while I have dow time on the others (paint drying, etc).

I cleaned and trimmed the parts, then sorted the fiddly bits into a storage container.

My build won't be a military helicopter, but rather a private heli-ski chopper.

Take note!
We've only got about 2.5 months to finish our builds!
