Thanks guys I glad you like the wreck,I still haven't finished it yet,got side tracked with the other project.

Hey paints, I've taken pics in B/W in the past and totally forgot about that. I will definitely do that with model. Here's a couple of the B/W pics of previous wrecks.

I'll try to get this model done this week.

My two favorite things in one thread, PZ.IV's and extreme weathering!

Wow Mr. scratchmod, that is some good looking work. Your real world experience at demolishing units really shows through. Shoot those things in back & white and people will be unable to tell the WWII pics from your work. Thank you much for the posting, it is a most enjoyable viewing.

Thanks Bodge, nice to see I'm not the only one with rust in the brain. Heeey my model's are clean,I just happen to use rust instead of paint.  Hmmm, maybe I should make a RAL rust chart!!

This might be my next project after the trailer and F2,The pic being in color helps in the painting, I mean rusting.

Nice to see I have some rust buddies out there.

Scratchmod it looks killer ,so much detail to feast the eyes , i love it. Talk about weathering i think you can safely say us three are slightly defering from the clean build category. Doog awsome work as well and the idea also, full marks on that one.

Looks like we might be rust buddies.

Hey Doog.. looks awesome dude, I'm not very good at figures and dio's that's why I stick to vigni's.

What did you use for the interior? Looks like Verlinden to me. I use a lot of pastel chalks on brewed-up tanks, especialy the white/grey areas. This gives it a more chalky look as it is in real life.

The two ghosts are cool too.

You think we should maybe start a new tread on this topic, call it something with" rust bucket" maybe.

Yeh Bodges stuff is top notch for sure, as is yours.

scratchmod

Thanks, Rob!

Correct you are--Verlinden interior, with quite a bit of correcting and detailing. I rebbuilt the radio racks, made the seats, and modified and detailed the engine compartment; especially the blown-up fuel tank.

Widh I could show ya the photo I used for reference on the burned areas--you'd swear the metal was ainted white. I did use chalk on the wheels though, like you did there, where they burned. Great minds think alike? Wink [;)] I use a lot of pastels too, for the rust effects.

Don't know if you're a subscriber, but there's a "how-to" article on this diorama if you go to the home page and look in the "how To" articles, under "Armor" or "Weathering". Actually, here's the link;

http://www.finescale.com/fsm/default.aspx?c=a&id=3049

Your vignettes are so cool they don't really need figures--they might detract from the magnificence of your model anyway. Man, this one you have going here is just tooooo cooool! Can't wait to see it finished!!!

OK gents this model is nearly done now. I painted the base and glued some of the debris in place but still have to arrange, embed and glue some the heavier parts. Here is how she looks so far.

When it's completely finished I'll post the pics  with better lighting. So whatcha think so far.

Here we go, scratchmod; some more views of the ol' PzIV...

As you can see, it's not so much a "rust bucket" as it is a rusting wreck, recently destroyed, and brewed-up. Thus, the typical white coloring of the engine decking...

This thread is fun! Bodge's stuff too is top-notch for sure! Your threads on Armorama are incredible, by the way!

    Rob, that's some fantastic work.

Imo wrecks are some of the hardest thing's to model  (still trying to get the cahonie's to give it a try lol) and it looks like you've got it down to a science.

Wow..nice looking rust buckets. I really like the 57 with the worn paint. What methods did you use on both of those?

A good point Hans. Either way. there still fun to build.

I spent 8 years with combat Eng.and we destroyed plenty of vehicles in Desert Storm. WWII north africa is a good example of Eng's destroying unrepairable tanks.

Keep in mind that many of the ones you see that are destroyed so completely are that way because they were knocked out or broken down but couldn't be repaired/recovered in a timely manner, so engineers blew 'em up in order to prevent their recovery and use by the other side...

Hey Doog..love that rust bunnie of yours, with some work it could be restored and up and running again lol.

I posted my models in the wwII armor/afv axis  and constructive feedback forums. Just look for Scratchmod and that's me. The last rust hulk I built is titeled "scrapmetal".

This is cool, I finally found another insane modeller whose into rust like I am.

Hi Rob,

I wanted to say, outstanding work!

Do you have a link to some of your WIPs on Armorama? I'd love to read up a little more on how you achieve your finishes. I'm BIG TIME into rusted, old things--don't know if you saw my "Rust Bunnies" car?--but I'm always looking for more info and techniques on making things age. I don't know what it is--the feeling of the history and nostalgia of a rusted old hulk just gets me going. Can you give me a link or ten? LOL!

Here's my car, by the way...

I'm working on thise new photos of the PZ IV too by the way, when I get home...
