another group build?
Posted by M1abramsRules on Monday, December 8, 2003 3:22 PM
its just a suggestion, but could we come up with another group build that doesn't have to do with german armor. I am just throwing this out to see what I get. but I would like to do something WWII allied. (1/35 of course)

I'd be up for a ww2 allied build. My friend doesnt have the money to come back from college in california, so i have a whole freaking month to do nothing. i have a willy's jeep, 105mm sherman, and a 2.5 ton cargo truck.

I'm putting my vote in for a modern kit, any country but preferably 1/35th scale.

I agree with Erik, I'd go for an M1 build, any variation would do . Shoot, most everybody has one. Wink [;)] Otherwise, I have been wanting to build a Cromwell for awhile now. Easy, one color and no zim! Whose up for it?

There's been some of us discussing a Sherman build for January sometime. Just waiting for some of the other group builds to get closer to completion.

I still have one unbuilt M1A2. I could go for the M1 Group Build.

But a Sherman Group Build would be great.

I vote for an M1 build, or perhaps a themed build. As if I need another excuse to buy or build a T-55 or T-72. Approve [^]

That's 4 in now. If it's okay, can it be after the Panther build Feb.1?

I've been wanting to do an M1, I'd be a go after the Panther is done. Sherman is fine with me to since my last went to my brother. The shelf does look rather lonely having a bunch of allied stuff but no Sherman.

He-he-he.

Not funny, I know. I am sorry.

should we have 2 builds start at the same time, or should we offset them, or do the sherman only (seeing as it looks like they have 1st dibs). I would like to do an M1. the 2 tiger group builds should be about done, no? and the panther winding down.

Who says there can't be more than one build going at the same time? There could be a past and present build going on. Wink [;)] I have no idea how many Sherman participants there are, but out of all our members we could probably throw together two group builds.

Just an idea to throw out there for discussion.

I've noticed this on a couple of other sites, but I think Armorama.com does it best. If you look under their Campaigns section, you'll find some good stuff. They'll pick a general theme and actually have it fairly open.

Applying it back to the discussion at hand, a couple of ideas:

1) Allied Armour Theme - maybe pick a season/year and keep it open to any allied armor which would have been used in that timeframe?

2) Sherman Theme - limit it to any variant of the Sherman.

3) US Armor - Then & Now - okay very wide open, but would allow Shermans and M1s. Maybe call it the US Armor in Europe and let it be any US tank which saw service in Europe?

Some ideas, that's all. Smile [:)]

So many tanks, so many options, so little time. Tongue [:P] One thing i like about this group build idea, is it's getting me to the workbench and ACTUALLY working on a kit. This is a prime motivator for me, otherwise I'd be on this computer all day.

I would be willing to put the M1 build off until spring. Then it would be easier to for everyone to participate in either one. but i would like to dee some feedback from some other people on what they would like to do.

I could live with that, I'd like to finish my Panzer III after the Panther build.

If you can hold it off till spring I could make it my last project before the upcoming move.

Either M1 or Sheman is fine by me.
Otoh, I am quiet partial towards a JGSDF Type 90 MBT w/Mine Roller.

Don't look now but how can I do all of these?.

Still not done with the Challenger,

Not started the Concorde,

Not started the Panther,

Not started the M1A2,

Not completed the Hulk Dio.
