PvtMutt: "Even you like it"..?  I guess you must be tough to please so that must be a real compliment, thanks!Yes

Guney: Thanks!

panzer88: Thanks for noticing the finish, I worked HARD to get it right...I hope yu can see it in person soon (Hobbytown, April maybe?!)  BTW: Coincidence you asked about a Sherman...The Dragon M4A1 DV Sherman is on deck after my KV-1 for the currently running Winter Warriors GB.  I estimate a March 1st start-up!

One small thing, the leaves stuck to the sides. This would only happen if the leaves or the vehicle were wet. You may want to brush on some Future to the lower hull and leaves to give the impression that there damp. Just a thoughtWink.

I'm with ya' Steve...and it's DONE!...I had that EXACT thought in mind when I was placing the leaves.  I added future (first coat) to the "stuck" leaves and the ones behid the tracks that would have been moist (prior to being squashed by the tracks).  Both dried with a bit too little sheen so I'll be hitting them again tonight.  I gotta' go easy for "scale effect" ,thanks for the keen eyes brother!.

p38jl/ wing_nut/ New Hampshire:  Thanks guys!

Bodge: Thanks for the comments and not a bad idea on those trees, I'll give it some thought.

Steve, that Pershing is simply wonderful.  The post shading toned down with the filters gave it the perfect spot on look!  Well done!

Steve thats one sharp looking PershingStick out tongue. I'm loving the base and the materials that you usedYes. Some of the best accessories I've found for some of my dio's have been right in backyard also.

Had no idea that you could get cheese cloth at Waly-world, I'll have to check that out.

Thats a lovely job youve done on that. That tank looks killer mate.

In my oppinion as to just edge it that bit further would be to paint small dark verticle lines on the silver birch trees as this is very common on them with a filter of  very diluted green in random places as  to emphasize the growth of moss as that would grow on trees where the light cant get too  i.e . in a wood. Its just a suggestion mate and not to detract from an allready stunning build.Zip it!

Guys: A heartfelt thank you to all of your nice comments.  I had no idea how well the netting and trees would go over but they seem to be a real crowd pleaser!

That netting is cheesecloth, BTW.  It was purchased from Wal Mart.  It's NOT in the craft section so ask a store worker for it specifically.  It comes white, so I soaked it witha raw umber wash and let it dry flat on a paper towel.

Wow, fantastic work on this one.

Aside from the tank, I think you got a sweet look with those birch trees Smile

Now that is one beauty of a Pershing, SMJ!!Bow Down Seriously the weathering is superb, and the base is stunning as well. Overall I love the look of the tank on that base, right next to some birch trees.

deafpanzer: Those are INDEED real leaves!  I happened to find a bunch of dry ones in some protected corners around my house.  I crumpled them by hand to get them to correct scale...or so.  It was very easy, except I used a lot of watered down glue to get them to stay put.

WOW!  I really like your diomara.Yes Did you use real leaves?  It just looked too real... cutting old leaves into smaller pieces or something like that?  If so, never thought about this before since I have PLENTY of trees and leaves in the yard.

Guys: After quite a build funk and a bittersweet holiday season I finally got something completed at the workbench!

This is my Tamiya M26 Pershing.  It was a great kit and a real fun build for me!  I've been wanting to depict a tank in my "yard" using my persoanl home property as a setting.  So here's a picture out my front door to give you the look I was going for as the base:

I gathered up leaves, sticks and a rock to make it authentic.  I crumpled-up the leaves to get them to the right size and I used tamiya flat base on a few sticks of the sticks to get the Birch tree bark look.

I envisioned the tank as being a late WWII vet, seeing a bit of action, then re-used in the Korean War..hence the sunbleached finish and rust.  She is OOB except for the netting and rope.

So without further ado here is how it all came out!:

Thanks for looking!

terry35:  I'm glad you came by to take a look..and thanks.   I'm nearing completion and hope to get some more pictures up soon...it looks A LOT different!  Much more weathering...but I think I restrained myself enough to make it unique but not overdone.

Hinksy: I'm working VERY cautiously around ALL the turret add-ons...I have to, they are all glued on, including the MG!

wbill76: Thanks Bill...the tonal variation will be VERY apparent when I post the next pictures...I'm liking how this one is coming along...OD can be made interesting with a little effort.

Rbaer: Thanks man!
