German Field Kitchen...
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 9, 2010 10:55 AM

For all of you that think the Tamiya German Field Kitchen kit is cool, be aware that they have just re-released the "old" boxing of this set that actually comes with the two horses and driver...doog did a cool dio using this set a while back and this version has been a very hard to find item until now...

Yup, that's a cool item to have. Didn't know it was a hard item to find. We have it here but everyones going for the jets and latest tanks.

The horses are nice as they were work horses if I can recall. Wasn't it re-boxed by Academy?

Cheers,

Richard

I believe the re-boxing of the kitchen sans horses but plus extra figs was an easy find but the original issue w/ the horses was OOP...

Nope, they're the horse drawn ones. Perhaps they were surplus limited run kits that were left un-touched.

I've heard of limited runs exported to certain countries only. It's good to hear they are re-issueing it. I've got 2 sets but would love to have the new one with the extra figures...a bit pricy though.

Cheers,

Richard

Hi! New to the forum. Just FYI, I own an original German field kitchen, the real deal, der grosse Feldkuche as represented in the larger Tamiya kit, among others. I'd be happy to help any modelers with details and info who are attempting these kits. There's a lot of detail left off as you can imagine. I'm a WW2 reenactor and we actually cook in it. You can check it out at http://www.2ndpanzerdivision.com/field_kitchen.htm

We have a lot of original German vehicles and weapons, so check it out.

Just as an update, my new book, "Gulaschkanone, The German Field kitchen in WW2 and Reenactment" is now available through Schiffer Books on Amazon.com. As a reenactor and modeler I think you'll love it! Tons of useful diorama ideas. Thanks! Scott

Yup, it's a cool little piece to put in a dio. Cool beans that they released the horses again!
