Rob,

I am in the process of finishing my Stug, putting the tools on its proper places. I just discovered that the tow cables are way too long with the instruction saying 130mm and 135mm. I remembered that you had this well done built so I went back to it. How long are your tow cables? Thanks

Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions!

I didn't even think about the stopper on the commanders hatch- I'll move it into the right spot- it is barely glued, so it will be easy to remove. As for the lifting lugs- they have to stay- I"ll damage something trying to correct that one! I placed the white wash using Tamiya Flat White, heavily diluted with thinner, several light sprays, varying the thickness followed by drybrushing with basecolour, washes and the occasional rub with Mig pigments.

Nice built Rob. I love the winter weathering. Dirty but not filthy. I just want to get your attention regarding the lift rings on the rear  of both sides of the turret. The box cover has it right but the instruction says otherwise. I am in the process of building one myself (same model) and because I really had doubts about the wisdom of its position, I went to Prime Portal and I was right, the ring should point upward. Thanks.

Mmmmm!!! ... Big Smile

Nice built, great painting work and a really subtle weathering. In my opinion, just some rust on the spare tracks will increase the final look of this really nice Stug.

Excellent work!!!

Cool Max. That subtle scheme looks quite nice. Perhaps a little more of a dirty wash on the underside to pop it a little more.

May I ask how you achieved the white wash? Did your airbrush it on? Inquiring minds want to know!

Very good job here. Yes

Not too clean and not too messed up. Looks like what you would expect to see on a reasonably maintained vehicle.

Nice work on the subtle whitewash effect. Roy's right about the commander's hatch, the hinge wouldn't have allowed for the hatch to remain rigid like that unless physically held open by the commander in that position. Winterketten always add a menacing look to a build and yours are nicely done. Yes Beer

That's a good looking StuG, Rob. Nice interior painting and a nice, subtle exterior. I like it!

I like your Stug a lot!  Great work.  One thing you might want to alter is the angle of the open commander's hatch.  Yours is too upright.  It should be about 30 degrees from horizontal (see the rubber hatch stop?)

Stug III G finished
Posted by maxfax on Saturday, November 27, 2010 11:02 AM

Hello everyone,

I've just finished my 1/35 Dragon Stug III G for the Ostfront GB mostly OOB. I used a fading winter camo scheme, Fruil winterketten tracks, various Mig pigments and some odds and ends in the fighting compartment. I can remove the roof, but I'll keep it closed- I didn't want to scratch the drivers area, transmission or ammo boxes.

Thanks!

Rob
