KV-II 1:48 finish - photo !!!
Posted by Rafhart on Sunday, December 5, 2010 2:39 AM

I finished the model of Russian Tank KV-II in 1:48 scale, the model consisted of just added to the grid of the photo parts of Hauler, metal barrel, the paint I used Pactra paint pigments Vallejo and the new chemistry was created as the AK model can be seen (workshop) for more photos can be found by clicking on the image in my signature, invite.

Traditionally, the model exhibited on ebay because I have no room in the house to keep them:)

Nice track! But somehow the turret and cast still looks abit gloss, maybe due to strong lighting???

Great job overall, my only crit would be all of the glancing blows accross the side of the turrent. If there was that many on the side shouldnt the be more direct hits on the front near the edge? ( assuming most came from the one encounter) otherwise thats alot of glancing hits in one area over many encounters

Just my 2 cents (and I'm no expert)

Ditto The glancing hits would be a small percentage (10% or less) of direct hits. The KV was a HUGE target that would be easy to hit directly, the German guns it faced were extremely accurate.

One photograph that proves this was of German Panzer III commander inspecting a knocked out KV with the smaller turret. Frustrated with not being able to penetrate the armor with a 50mm anti tank round he targeted the barrel and put a round through it disabling the KV's 75mm gun. Also shown are many direct hits on the turret and hull.

Your finish on the tank is excellent, the battle damage is well done, just excessive on the turret glancing hits. The weathering and tracks look perfect as mentioned above.

What a stunning build - and in 1/48 too! Lovely work!

I just can't imagine putting all that work into a model only for it to go straight onto Flea Bay. That must be harsh!

Modeled on the tank that fired on the range germany, photo found on the internet, I did not want to be hit with high account, because they look better.

This is really nicely done with good weathering and nice painting. A beautiful model.

The only thing that strikes me as a bit "off" is the shading / tonal differences where the "hits" are on the turrets. It almost looks like "spots" of camouflage or something. I would try to lessen the difference there.

I have to agree with Karl on the black spots. My first thought was it was camoflage. Otherwise well done.
