2011 Kit Release Wish List
Posted by tigerman on Monday, December 27, 2010 2:56 PM

Well 2010 is almost over and the manufacturers delivered more goodies to us modelers. Of my long list of wants, a new BT-7 was produced by Tamiya. AFV Club and Mini Art gave us new Valentines. Dragon continues to release more zimmed-up kits. Tamiya released an updated Matilda!

So my question is, what are you hoping will be released this up-coming year?

I'm hoping to see a Dragon StuG III G Late with waffle zimmerit. I think they are very close to this, since they released a mid-production with the late saukopf mantlet, but the earlier MG and not the later remote.

Also, I'm hoping Tamiya pops out a Crusader II, but a III is more likely in 1/35 since they already have one in 1/48.

My first wish of a M4A3E2 Assault Sherman was fulfilled by Tasca and then Dragon.

This year, I wish for a M577A2 or A3 Command Post Carrier used by a Fire Direction Center in a Field Artillery Battery with all the goodies inside. The Tamiya is fine, but needs some updating. Some guy names Gino P. Quintiliani (???)  did one on Armorama, but it did not have the battery computer system in it.

I would like to see Dragon release an M60.  They make great kits as you all know.   If they kit 1 Patton for every 3 Tiger versions they make......

And now the strange and obtuse requests -

  1. The rest of the LMTV series from Trumpeter.....bonus would be an M142 HIMARS edition!!
  2. Somebody make an M777 and a styrene M119
  3. AFV release the M8 HMC and M42 Duster
  4. Dragon release the T30 75mm howitzer
  5. Somebody attempt the M1 240mm howitzer
  6. Sombody (Dragon) make a M37 105mm
  7. Revell reissue the M55, hopefully with some upgraded molds
  8. AFV make the M43 sprue and barrel to match the M40 kit
  9. AFV please release the M1129 Mortor Carrier
  10. Tamiya upgrade the M106 to A3 with new 120mm mortor

ahhh....10 wishes and not one Sherman or German Surprise and as most of you guys know...I was only warming up!! Wink

Rounds Complete!!

Steyr RSO/1 tractor from Dragon... they've already done the pak 40/4 auf RSO, so they've already got the chassis down... I just love the RSO/1 tractor and I'd love to see a recent one from Dragon to replace the old mediocre Testor's one.

Seems like a no brainer. Two versions, early and late or is the the wooden-cab called a late?

I hate to say this but dont get your hopes up about next year release's. I have already been told Manufatures are going to cut back on what they are going to release for next year Tamiya being one of them.

I'd really like to see Dragon knocking out a really good ONTOS. I bought the Academy one but wasn't impressed at all. Personally I found it lacking in detail in many areas and I think Dragon (or Tamiya) could do something good with an ONTOS kit.

Still, I'm very new to armour modelling and there are sooo many kits out there that I want to build yet so I'm spoilt for choise and will be for a few more years yet!

I'm not asking for much... I have enough unbuilts in the stash to last into the next life but seeing that my output is just about nil, I'd like to see the currently deployed M224 60mm mortar with crew, ammo etc. made available. (Gee, didn't I wish for this last year?  Humm... perhaps someone will hear me this year... But, I suppose there's always hope. Whistling )

Thanks,

I'd love to see someone other than Heller do an AMX-13

Once again, I'm praying for a new British Mark I-IV WWI tank with a full interior and GOOD tracks.

Anytime now would be great, Tamiya....Whistling

Oh yeah---and a late 70's-mid 80's Ford LTD II Country Squire station wagon would be awesome. Or a Pontiac T-1000...

Tamiya could make me happy by re-doing their M48s and -60s. Nothing much, just bring them up to the standards of what they'redoing now. I'd also love to see Academy follow through on their rumored M60Gal-Batash.

On a side note, I sure wish Dragon would make their DS Sherman tracks more easily available, and fill out the line while they're at it.

Otherwise, I'm happy like a tic on a dog's butt.

I'd like to see:

-Mercedes Kfz. 11 car (with the Bronco and Tamiya car offerings, get something that actually did field work)

-Mercedes 6 wheel staff car (the 35 year old kit of this sells for hundreds on eBay when it shows up, so why not?)

-Panzer IV A...Please already?!

-Matilda Mk 1

-Panzer III marks A-D

-T-26 series light tanks (Tamiya already has the turret)

-BT-5 (again, Tamiya has the turret done)

-Kosmolets tractor (ok, I doubt we'll see that one, but Tamiya did do the Renault UE)

This thread just begs to mention some softskins like the Dodge M37 or the 5 ton M54 trucks. By the way, if we already started talking civilian - some kind of van or reefer semitrailer in 1/24 looks like a winner on the market. How about releasing any M109 howitzer? But it's probably right, market is getting slow, hopes are getting low :( Oh well, I have a stash to help me wait for decades... Good luck modelling and have a nice day

Hmmm well,

I agree with a nice series of Dodge vehicles (Weapons Carriers and Ambulances) AFV Club have the chassis if they'll get on the stick.

Dragon needs to quit jacking around and release some of the popular Sherman "funnies" (Crab, Mine Roller, BARV and DD) In fact they could release simple add on conversions for 3 of those in a 3n1 pack. It really is a simple way to sell more kits that they already have.

I also want to see a nice new M-32 in plastic (Tiger Models has been working on one but for that price, no thanks)

Also, Please an M-31 recovery vehicle as well.

Dragon ought to do a Lee, Grant series on their new Priest Chassis and of course a Sexton. I would bet my bottom dollar they'll do a Sexton with the Priest already on the market and a new 25lb gun about to be released.

A new shiny series of Pattons would be very welcome indeed.

I'm hoping Dragon will update their  old Hetzer and then release some weird Hetzer variants like the SiG33 auf Hetzer, the Kaetzenchen and maybe even a bergepanzer Hetzer.

I'm also surprised we haven't seen a Dragon Moeblewagen yet. They've got all the necessary parts for one.

With the introduction of pre-zim I'm also surprised they haven't re-released the Bergtiger(P) , and Tiger(P) with zim yet.

I know those aren't all anything really new but with a tight pocket book I'm thinking we'll being seeing a lot of updated re-releases this coming year.

I want to see a reworked Bradley, preferably Desert Storm era and with full interiors.

Yeah, and a reworked M-60 any version too.

OK, the manufacturers may not want to go wild with new releases, but maybe we could get somebody to redo their M10 tank destroyer so that it actually LOOKS like an M10.  Same goes for the M18.  The thing I find odd is that these aren't "paper panzers", there are dozens of the real thing in private collections and in museums.

My softskin choices would be the classic M37 3/4 ton truck anf the M211 "deuce and a half" from the 50's and 60's.  Both of these also have potential carry over into civillian or fire department vehicles as well.
