My Mobelwagen is Published
Posted by panzer88 on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 6:33 PM

Sorry this may be off topic or in the wrong part of the forum ( It does have to do with a model of armor though). But,the reason of this post is not to pat myself on the back ( even though it is really cool having something get published), but to ask you fine gents a question. Does FSM always contact you prior to publishing something of yours (photo or article) or not? The reason I ask is, I had no idea this was going to be in the mag, I thought when my friend called me and told me about it that he was joking. And doesn't FSM give you a little money for the stash when something is put in the mag? I figured that you frequent contributors would know (Doog, WBill,..etc) Thanks guys

Congrats on making it into print! BeerThe short answer is no, they don't usually tell you in advance if they are going to publish something. Smile However they do send you a complimentary issue (usually before the others hit the stand) and you should receive a check as well (I'm assuming your build made it into the Reader's Gallery?). Due to the holidays, things might be running a bit slower than usual, but you should check with the editorial staff if you don't receive something soon. HTH!

Congrats, Pz88--what Bill said. You should get a check soon; when my Camaro was recently published, I knew nothing of it, but got a small check afterward. If you haven't seen it by now, contact Aaron or Matt and just ask them if it's been sent out. Monica can also check for you if you call the offices.

Thanks again guys. Happy holidays. The main reason I was asking this question was, when my Tiger 1 was put in the reader gallery a few months ago, I was contacted by FSM a month or two prior and was told what was going on. To be honest, I'm just humbled to have my pic selected, I'm sure that they get tons of photos of beautiful work being done by other people.

Congrats buddy...Karl & Bill clued you in. If you don't hear from them soon call them. Mike Hembree handles the readers gallery or you can talk to Aaron. Monica can make sure all the paperwork is correct and that an extra issue was mailed to you (good if you want to frame your page.

Congrats again!!

When I got a tip published, they sent me an email asking for my social surity number and address before they could issue a check. This was about 2 weeks before the magazine was published, so I know it was going to be in that issue. They sent my check with another copy of that issue.

I have had one tip published several years ago. Jeff Herne was working there at the time and specifically asked a few of us he knew for tips. I did not get paid for it but I didn't raise a stink about it.. not that big of a deal. I also sold a very lengthy article to FSM about 2 1/2 years ago. I'll be interested to see what they do with that one... I sent a five thousand word manuscript and 80 pictures... Big Smile
