Well done job on a much maligned kit. I just wish you added the engine grills, but that's just my opinion.

Agreed well done.

Aside from adding the grills to the air cleaners next time paint any interior areas that may be seen flat black. On the last picture the interior shows a lime greenish color that should have been blackened out.

Your scratches and chips are very realistic yet too random. Next time just add this to areas the crew crawls over and accesses often like fuel caps, crew hatches, tow hooks and pioneering tools.

Take above as critique and not criticism to improve upon your next build, I for one will admit many mistakes on every build I complete and strive to get the next one better. (never say or mention mistakes at contests, let the judges find or miss them)

very nice!

a freind of mine gave me one of these the other week. Only it is an original release 1970 box. Everything is still in the pouches and the mold looks crispy fresh.

What I do with kits you can "see through" is to take the flat parts of the sprue (like the pieces that have the Tamiya logo on them), paint them black and glue them to the underside of the hull opening. You can also do this with pieces of styrene card stock. It blocks the view but gives some depth to the opening.

You have done a great job with what I believe is one of Tamiya's worst kits - I see that the front doesn't flush completely on yours, as well :) HobbyLobby sells a Testor Putty (in a gray tube) which is very easy to work with and dries in minutes, ready to sand and paint. I like what you did with the broken handle there on one of the engine hatches :)

As fars as the grills, this kit doesnt come with them and because of the clearance between the turret and the upper hull, the only way one can add them is by buying aftermarket photo-etched ones.

I don't think that could be a Panther Ausf.G as I don't remember the Tamiya Ausf.G that I have having that open vision block. And of course that must be a older release as I can see your background screen through the open hatch.

On the workbench: Dragon 1/350 scale Ticonderoga class USS BunkerHill 1/720 scale Italeri USS Harry S. Truman 1/72 scale Encore Yak-6

The 71st Tactical Fighter Squadron the only Squadron to get an Air to Air kill and an Air to Ground kill in the same week with only a F-15 http://photobucket.com/albums/v332/Mikeym_us/

A nice build, but I'm definitely missing the engine grilles too.

You might want to tone down our lighting in your booth as well. The pics are really overexposed. Either that or correct them in a photo program. That would show off your paint and color much better!
