That turret must have been a bear to paint. Looks very nice. How was the build?

It looks great! Yes I am having hard times understanding why would they paint bright loud colors around the turret like if they were daring their enemy to shoot at them!  Definitely one of most unique markings I have seen so far...

Thanks guys. The kit itself ain't bad.Quite a bit of putty is needed all the way around the glacis and the instructions are very vague about parts placement at times.Other than that,it was a good kit. It's nowhere near state of the art,but I'd recommend it.

The striping on the turret wasn't difficult to paint, but you need to do a bit of taping.I hand brushed yellow over a white basecoat then ran a lenght of Tamiya tape around the turret.I then sprayed it Testors red.The mantlet was taped off completely and hand brushed later.Too much of a PITA to get the tape just right. The St. Andrews cross on this one was hand brushed as well.Too much stuff was in the way to tape it off.

It was weathered using the Tamiya powders.

If you have this kit, pick up some liquid cement for the link and length tracks. They just don't fit together until softened up a bit with glue. They weren't the PITA I thought they would be.

I also thought this was a screwey paint job for a tank, but it's fun and interesting.

I put this one up last month. As soon as I can find a T-26 for a decent price,I'm gonna give it a similar paint job.

Real nice job on that.  Thinking about the masking of the turret is making me a little woozy.

Always thought these were pretty cool, despite being rather clumsy looking.

I always thought they looked top-heavy.I would think the turret has heavier armor than the rest of the vehicle.

Very nice work, always like to see the early/pre-war vehicles get their due! Beer

I'm in the process of reading Antony Beevor's "Battle for Spain", fascinating read on the Spanish Civil War, highly recommend it if you want to get more into that particular conflict.

Soviet gear like the BT-5, T-26, etc. went to the Republican forces and not to the Nationalists (the Nationalists were being equipped by Italy and Germany), so that would lead me to believe that this would have to be "captured" gear fighting in Nationalist colors and they would want to make very sure they weren't attacked by their own side by mistake in the field. The Spanish Civil War also saw extensive use of air power at the tactical level and the Nationalist forces generally had air superiority due to the Italian/German involvement and equipment, so that would lead me to believe that these particular sets of markings were intended for self-preservation under those conditions, hence the garish/obvious nature of the colors and markings, such as the black cross on white field as aerial recognition, employed. That's because they didn't have the Spanish soccer jerseys yet. Big Smile

Nice job on this. Definitely something we haven't seen here!

Thanks again guys.At first I thought this one was gonna turn out to be as interesting as drying paint. It really started to come to life as I progressed through the weathering process.

biffa,if you get around to building that BA,let me know and I'll tell ya what to watch out for.
