Well it has been awhile to say the least since I started this build. But I finally finished it last week and gave it to my buddy in time for his unit's reunion. I used the pictures his wife had provided to recreate as best as possible the vehicle he drove.

He really liked it and it was a hit at the reunion, only thing no one could figure was why was a marine building a model for a soldier!

I built this kit last year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a fabulous kit and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Terry.

No as I understand it the 718th had most of cars. But they used this one for patrols around Saigon and the airfield in '71'72 time frame.

Lookin' good! The 716th isn't the "typical" M706 unit, is it? I'll be watching, good luck with your build and have a nice day

Good looking start!Big Smile I'm working on the V-150 with 90mm cannon, so this is a timely build for me. I'll be following along with interest.

sweet! so far so good, I can't wait to see the finished kit. Yes

I've built a kit for a Vet once and it was worth every minute of time to see his face light up when he opened the package and he saw his vehicle with the correct markings as he had it.

1st Online WIP - V100 for a VET
Posted by tonka on Friday, April 1, 2011 2:58 PM

This is my first WIP posted on here besides group builds.

I am building a V-100 Commando from the Vietnam Conflict for a fellow VET, although he is ARMY!Stick out tongue

It's a surprise for him. His wife provided me some pics of his vehicle, he served with the 716th MP BN.

I am using the 1/35 Hobby Boss kit.

It requires some mods, mainly the front and rear M60 mounts, the turret M2 .50 cal mount and the MP siren.

I built the MG mounts from styrene tubing and parts of academy's MG set.

The siren is part of a unknown airplane bomb, sprue, and wire.

I will be able to use some decals and will need to make the others.

It will be placed in a simple dio, with a brass nameplate and the pictures below.

Any and all comments are appreciated.

Here are the pics I am attempting to recreate

This is the body,,,primed to detect flaws..All hatches will be closed and no aftermarket parts..
