You've done it again Rob. Superb work as usual. I really like the weathering on this guy.

Really like what you done with this less than stellar kit.

Must say the trench would really put the beast in its place with scale & historical context.

The `lozenge`design was developed to cross trenches. One tactic that worked was after crossing a enemy trench some tanks would travel parallel to the enemy trench shooting up troops below while the rest advanced forward.

That really looks great Rob!

DOOG - it was a challenge because of the poor fits, but it was fun to build, acn't wait to do another WW1 tank. I look forward to the day the manufacturers come up with a kit that fits together better. thanks for you input, much appriciated.

ANDY -  Glad that I have been able to enspire you to build a WW! tank. Give me a heads up when you are ready and we shall build at the same time. now that this one is done, I will be able to put my full attention into the Panzer III build.

Your remarks about the 'drainpipes' are . The originals were Lewis guns, with a water-jacket so were fairly non-descript anyway.

Your paint-job makes my effort look like a 'water-tank' btw...

Rob, I absolutely had no interest to build one of those World War I tanks but things have changed especially after following your great WIP I would love to build one sometimes in the future.

Wow! That came out as about as fine as you could want! I think it looks great!

I've been pining for one of the big manufacturers to come out with one of these with an interior in it--but your build here shows that you can still make a great looking early tank out of a sub[par kit with some work and imagination!

It's been a while so its time to call this one done for now.  Had big plans to get some dirt, mud and grime on this one and place on a small dio with it crossing an enemy trench but with some situations here at home, have suddenly found myself short on space to display.  So for now will call it done and may possibly sometime in the future continue with the dio.  Here she is:

Been awhile so hear are a few updates.

Stenciled and painted the call sign numbers, scratchbuilt unditching beam (still needs chain) and started the weathering.  Next will be the tracks, they are the individual link tracks from the Model Cellar.

I would love to build those WWI tanks if they are readily available from DML or Tamiya so it makes three of us now.  I am surprised they haven't done it yet especially there are only very few tanks built for WWI.  I can only think of four at this moment...

Oh sorry Rob, for some reason to my eyes she looked sorta olive drab, now that I go back and look and yeah she looks more brown.

Thanks, one day I'll build another, way too much stuff on the plate right now . Still even even beyond the historic importance it's just a cool looking tank.

By Mk IV, they were Army weapons, painted.... erm..... Green, Brown, Buff or Camo'd.... so whatever floats your landship as it were....

HERCMECH, ANDY - You guys must have posted same time as I, did not mean to make you wait.  Gave the subject 2 / 3 bathes, let dry then started paint.  Normally I prime everything this is the first that I did not.  Wanted the dark gray to maybe give a deeper effect on the base color.  So used flat black and just sprayed around the panels.  Was not to neat about it, figured there was no reason to be.

Then sprayed the inter parts of the panels with Russian Earth Brown.  Finally gave the whole thing a light overspray with the earth brown to blend it all in allowing just a little of the black to show through.

DM - Thats what thought ya were talking about.  I probably should have thinned the water jackets a bit more though.  Thanks for the help and keeping an eye out and dont eat to many of those mushrooms

Not to be a pest but still wanting to know:

on your preshade....did you paint the whole thing black then fill in the panels or did you shot black around the panels the paint light coats?

DM - "Machine Gun Drains" ?  If you mean for the barrel, I had drilled out the water jacket and used 1/32 brass rod for MG barrels or is there something else I'm missing?

Did this to all the MG's, just hard to see in the pics I posted.  If it was something else let me know, your advice is always welcome and appreciated.

 I guess my term "bullet drains" was a bit too vague as I did mean the hole in the barrel..... shoulda said that.
