Ok, here is the official word from Jentz, and Trojca:
Jentz and Trojca both agree that two Panther IIs were ordered for testing. They both agree that only one was completed but was outfitted with a panther G turret. They also agree that it is possible that this prototype saw combat.
Jentz states that a few Panther F hulls were completed and fitted with G turrets. Trojca agrees with Jentz on this point, BUT Trojca states: “it seems probable” that a few panther Fs were completed by Daimler-Benz and that they “allegedly” saw combat in Berlin. Jentz seems more skeptical. There are however pictures of a prototype of the Panther F from 1944.
This info comes from Sd.Kfz.171 Pz.Kpfw.V Panther and Germany’s Panther Tank, The quest for Combat Supremacy
Here is a link that describes almost word for word what Germany’s Panther Tank, The quest for Combat Supremacy states. After all, the book is one of the references used for the site.

Anyway, in conclusion, whatever color you would like to paint the tanks will work, since there seems to be no concrete evidence that either tank saw combat. And I didn’t meant to get nit picky, just wanted to let you guys know what my references said. By the way, I would love to know what references you guys are using.
