Very nice build! Loving the paint job. Lots of detailed weathering.

The paint job and weathering look pretty good although I might have scuffed up the floorboards a little more, maybe even making it look like bear metal in spots by the pedals but that's just me.  The only real negative are the large ejector pin marks in the floorboards.  A little judicious filling and sanding would have helped there.

It looks great! Yes  Agree with other comments.  I can't wait for my pre-order Cyber-Hobby SAS jeep to arrive anytime soon...

anthony2779 - Thanks for your kind compliments. I agree about adding more stowage. At least 6 more fuel cans are needed to match the same vehicle in 1:35 scale.

K-dawg - Thanks for your nice words. This sure is a nicely detailed kit.

Hercmech - Thanks for your kind comments. AI the builder sure knows how to weather small and big kits alike.

shoot&scoot - Thanks for your kind comments and suggestions.

deafpanzer - Thanks for your kind words. Have you got your SAS Jeep already?

Not yet received? I think Cyber-hobby is kinda slow and lousy then.  This kit has been available on hobbyeasy since 2011-06-06. If I ordered one for $111.79 + $26.92 shipping cost (to US may be + $30-$40) it would arrive in less than a week, usually in 5-6 days after the date of order.

Looks amazing, only wish there was something in the picture (ie: a paint bottle or something) to scale it to. Very impressive!

hi everyone, just joined this site so i could ask about this kit, hope you can help?

i have started work on my own desert raider jeep (if it turns out half as good as this one i will be happy) but i am having some problems.

first, there is no engine in the kit!

next is the thing i am having most problems with, the front steering works but the steering wheel is not joined to anything! i am trying to work out how i can join them so that the steering functions.

and the last thing is, i have parts in the kit that are not on the plans, not just the parts that are not used in this kit.

i have emailed dragon but no reply.

thanks very much

ant.

millwall, the guy who posted this build, did not actually build the kit. He hires  folks to do the builds (commision builds so to speak) and then posts their work. I doubt he can answer your technical problems regarding the build. You may be better off posting a new thread question asking for help with tthis kit.

Subhuman1 - Thanks for your kind words. This kit is about 30cm (12") wide and 46 or 56cm long (I can't remember for sure), but it's a very big one.

TD4438 - Thanks for your kind comments.

castelnuovo - Thanks for your nice words.

Karl - Thanks for your kind comments and continuous support.

millwallfc - Thanks for your comments about the build. This kit doesn't have engine and you'll need at least 6 more fuel cans to match the number of cans in the 1:35 SAS Jeep (old Tamiya's). I know from another modeler that he ordered after-market engine and fuel cans for this jeep, but I don't know from where. If I know I'll get back to you later. As for steering wheel, it's not designed to function as you wish. If you want it to function you'll have to modify it yourself and some scratch-building is surely needed. As for parts in the kit that are not on the plans, you don't have to worry about them, just use what's shown in the plans. I know there's an extra pole for installing machine-gun in the middle of the jeep. I plan to use it with another 4x4 Jeep 1:6 (US Jeep) that comes with no gun. I'll have to buy, say, a .50 caliber for it.

stikpusher - Well, for some questions I can answer as you can see above.

as for the after market stuff, thats something i will think about later.

what about the box on the bottom of the jeep that is on all the box art?

My order has finally arrived as it was a pre-order since June or July.  Loving it... everything looks great except for the .50 cal MG.  Not too many parts I was expecting from Dragon you know...

Two sheets of brass PE included...

I will probably replace the MG barrel with brass from Royal Model...

Model Maniac- I was talking about 1:35 scale which became available finally last week.  Did you get one already?  I bet you did!  Hope you didn't mind me posting the pictures since it is related to your latest addition to your BIG family.  Big Smile

Model Maniac
.

stikpusher - Well, for some questions I can answer as you can see above.

I stand correctedWink

And I am glad to hear that you do have some personal knowledge about the builds themselves. I think that is one of the best parts of this hobby on this forum is sharing our knowledge and experiences, good and bad, on any particular kit.

millwallfc - I just got the excess parts of this kit from my builder today and they're quite a lot. I think you can do as you wish with them as I have idea except for the machine gun pole that I mentioned earlier.

deafpanzer - I see. Im afraid you've lost your bet this time because I haven't got the 1:35 yet. I don't buy everything in sight because I'm cost conscious. $44.99 + shipping is way too much to pay for 1:35 jeep. That's it!

model maniac, did you get the plans back to?

not the best are they, see what i mean about the parts that are not mentioned?

also i cant find much useful information on this kit online, thats how i found your photos.

i am in london, england, dont know if that makes much difference when searching online?

just seen another thing with this kit, the plans tell you to make and fix the back seats, the parts are all there, but this jeep does not have back seats, thats where the jerry can racks go.

millwallfc - I got the plans back earlier but I don't know what you mean about the parts that are not mentioned. Why bother with them? Un-mentioned parts are excess parts, you may keep them for other use. I saw a big part which is probably the backseat you mentioned. I just keep them aside,

I'm glad to know that you found my photos from searching online. I usually have new kits built and shown faster than anyone else. Being in England doesn't make any difference in searching.
