We got hit pretty hard by Irene up here, but I know that your neck of the woods got pounded a lot harder. I'm sorry to hear about your house. I hope things are coming back together OK.

Mike,sorry to hear about your difficulty,we got off pretty light,just need to replace basement carpet and clean up the outside.hopefully this will be a once in a lifetime event for us.I wish you the best,will you be at AMPS ? Maybe I will bump into you there.

Mike - I'm glad Recovery Ops are going well.  They are always a b!tch.  Some time back at the bench should help.

Gino....the recovery ops are like the winch. You never pay attention to it until you are stuck. Then it just dosen't work as well as you suspected....but you eventually get there!!

The good thing is it forced the cleanout of 15 years of stuff (filled a 20 yd dumpster). For those who don't understand what that means, see this

Sorry to hear about the flood. here in Western Kentucky we also had a flood this spring and the water got as high as it did back in 1937. I live on one of the highest points in the county so I made it though fine but a few of my friends did not and I spend a lot of time helping them.

Here's a tip on cleaning up from floods. Once you have cleaned up everything order some micoban and spray your floors and walls before painting over them. If you want the link to it let me know. My friends went though 30 gals of that stuff in their houses .

It seems the news media were playing up the "gonna flood NYC" scare...as always.  NYC didn't get hit that bad so nobody heard anything else about it. 

I know exactly what your going through,Went to bed Sat. night around midnight and the floor was just damp.Woke up sunday morning at 6:30 am and it was above the second step from the bottom,over 20" So far had to replace the water heater and need a new air compressor,not sure on the furnace I have been dreeding trying to fire that up...Finnaly today I was able to get it down to maybe a 1/4" in the model shop..... I need to glue some plastic soon,other wise I'll go nuttser...(if thats a word,if not it is now lol)

JTrace,sorry about your situation.Unless you know about heating systems,don't fire it up on your own,it could be dangerous,especially if the gas valve was under water.It could look ok but malfunction later on.Have PSE+G take a look,all work guaranteed and repaired on credit.In fact if you need An appt,drop me a PM and I can set something up for you after I get back from va-ca.

Redleg- sorry to hear about the basement. Irene didn't hit my area nearly as hard, but I can relate to water in the basement as it has happened here a few times in recent years due to prolonged spells of rain in the spring.

I hope your cleanup efforts progess well.

Karl - Thank you my old friend. I am fortunate, not huge damage, more of a giant PITA. Many people had it much worse. The last estimate I heard was over 46,000 homes in NJ that were damage or destroyed.

John - Welcome to the flloded basement club . I truly understand the need for some styrene.....I am hoping this weekend....at least for a little bit. Good luck and be careful.

Mike it's good to here you survived... you too John... but sorry to here abut the damage.  I got lucky.  Just a little seepage under the laundry room door the the shop vac was able to keep up with.  Driving around the neighborhood there are piles of carpet and drywall every where.  Keep up the good fight and get back when you can.  We'll keep a light on for ya!

Mike - hope you can get back to modelling soon. I was on the move recently and I feeled like a junkie without his drug... Ain't that bad! Good luck and see you on the forums

Thanks for the info Anthony,my buddy Chris works for PSE&G and said he would look at it for me....I'm hoping its alright we can't afford a new furnace and I'm probably moving soon so a new one would be a waste of money. I got my moneys worth outta the water heater though 20yrs..... It was last replaced during my house fire in 1990.

Sorry to hear Irene was such a b**** to ya!  Just get everything down to the wash rack and hosed off!  It'll be as good as new!  I'll give ya an extra 24 hours! 

The important thing is you survived the storm, sadly damage comes with the territory in those storms. Thankfully, we rarely get hit by heavy winds where I'm at, but had one notable storm back in the early 60's! I took some time to read up on Atlantic hurricanes, and they seem somewhat rare for your ways. I was surprised at how many hit North Carolina though. I always think Florida when I hear hurricane.

Could always be worse!  When Rita hit my neck of the woods I had to bunk with my in-laws for three weeks!    After about a week I was calling recruiters trying to get called back up for Iraq or the 'Stan!  ;)  I think I completed three kits in the next two weeks!

You can always get more stuff, Mike.  Just can't get more you! 

Glad you made it through without major issues. A flooded basement is a tough one, just a lot of work and hope nothing is hiding in the way of damage.

My Hue battle dio was destroyed when I blacked out and took it with me. Pinched nerve in the neck and I went out and down.

I'm working on a bunch of M113/M132/M577/M125 for a 1/11th ACR Vietnam HQ platoon type thing.

I am also working on a M114 155mm howy and small base dio. I made an exhaustive search for the correct tires for Vietnam era and hope they look right.

Also my PC and backup went dead and had to buy a new PC. Now I will have to finally get a good camera.
