Trumpeter abrams

I built that kit years ago, and seem to recall that the tracks had the later pattern.

Also, fit and finish were ok; nothing to write home about, but definitely nothing to make you tear your hair out either.

thanks rob. i plan on posting pics once i finally start on this project. i plan on adding two road wheels to the hull length, making it about 4 and 1/2 scale feet wider, making the turret wider and longer, and adding a 195mm main gun with a muzzle brake and two TUSK style .50 cal turrets over each hatch. the tracks on a normal Abrams have two pads side by side, mine will heed to have three, thats why i needed to make sure the tracks didnt have the chevrons. i actually drew up the plans for it for a CAD class for school. this will be my first project with a ton of scratchbuilding as well as a first kitbashing project. thanks for the info!

Trumpeter's Abrams were pretty good at the time. It looked like they copied the better parts of the Tamiya and Dragon kits. Fit was OK, definitely not as good as Tamiya though. The forward face of one side of the turret was misshapen.

The kit comes with the newer style track w/out chevron detail. The kit included both vinyl and link & length tracks, but the tracks include a bump in the center of each track pad. Lots of removing from the inner surface.
