Bronco Hotchkiss H-39 finished

Wow, three finished in one year. This has been an epic year for finishing kits LOL.

Okay then, this is Bronco's first kit, the Hotchkiss H-39, which I finished for my GB Blitz in the West.

Construction was okay, but there were many tiny pieces and I had to build the tracks on the hull which I never do. The tracks were super tiny, but I built one long run of them with slow-drying glue and wrapped around the wheels. I think it was Hinsky that noted that when dry, they tend to shrink. I agree. i should have added an extra link to each side, because one side broke. I lost the sag that I added too. Perhaps i didn't let them dry long enough before removing the the swabs that I stuck in there.

I used Model Master Field Drab and Tamiya Hull Red for the colors. I added dot filters and washes with some pigments along the lower half. I never state that I'm a great weatherer, but always learning. I missed some seams which were on seemingly every piece.

For some reason the marking don't show the weathering. I will go over them again.

Thanks for looking and you still have about 3 months for the GB to go if anyone would like to participate. It's open to flyboys too.

Eric buddy YesYes   She came out beautiful !Heart....thinking all the way back to when the little Chef de chars observation dome lifting hooks got lost..Oops... it has been a fun build for me to watch you bring to life !

I think the colors you have used look terrific and the amount of weathering is perfect for a 6 week conflict.

I guess, as you said at the onset, the tracks were going to be a pain in the butt, but the finished product shows no sign of the modeling ups and downs you had while turning the H-39 into a little gem of a build.

great job my friend ! Toast

Thanks gents, I appreciate the kind words.

For the record, Bronco, released another H-39 that also included the shorter barrel and some improvements.

Tread, you are correct on all counts of the build. There were many ups and downs, and it almost became a disaster at the finish line. Over all, I'm pleased with the end result. It fits on my shelf so nicely, since it's so small.

Honestly, I think it's a fine looking model.  The weathering seems perfectly adequate too--not excessive, not too clean. A nice job, especially if you were at the point of scrapping it!

Thank you Karl. Coming form you that means a lot. I did have an eleventh hour disaster where tracks and pieces fell off left and right. The worst was the return rollers which just snapped off. Angry They unfortunately didn't go back on very well.

Heh, that's a GOOD build for me. Stick out tongue no matter what, I always end up doing a major screw-up and the fix usually looks terrible.  nice job on hiding the "disaster!" It really is a beauty!

Eric, sorry I haven't been following the Blitz in the West GB lately, but I had to stop and say what a very nice build your Bronco H-39 is!! YesYes I can't tell that you had any problems with it at all!  The construction looks first rate and the paint and weathering are top notch!!  I really like how you weathered the suspension!   You should be proud to display this next to your other builds! Toast

It must be tiny compared to the monster Jagdtiger your built for the Panzerjager GB!

Thanks Ernest and we miss you in the GB. The Hotchkiss is a little bigger then the casemate on the Jagdtiger.
