Looking for a Zimmerit kit for a jagd panther OR alternatives

To build it as a late model at the very least you need a different barrel and mantlet. And of the top of my head there are other differences.

I believe there are other companies that do AM Zimm. But doing you own really isn't that hard. there are a number of options, mine is Miliput white white.

The exhaust and grills are different as well. I believe Cavalier makes a set.

yeah I read up a bit and I guess its down to buy/find a kit or attempt to do it myself.....I noticed there were too many changes to be a later model.

I've got the Jagd Tiger kit 6051.  I bought it at an show and it came with aftermarket Zim and a barrel.  Also just picked up the Porsche with Zim on Dragons Xmas sales.  It is SWEET!

Dragon also do a late model kit which is also very nice, and a smart kit.

I am in the same position CBennett, I have Dragons # 6458 in the stash and its been sitting there grining at me for two years now asking me to make up my mind on the Zimmerit.

I recon that if I could get my hands on a mantlet with the bolt detail that would at least save me from blushing to badly

Yeah I saw them but I was balking a bit at adding $30 to the kit(which i bought for $20 on Ebay)....Im just one of those people that have a hard time paying more for a applique type aesthetic thing than I did the entire model :) . I believe the ones on Ebay were around $20 which is fine id pay that...but I think the shipping was almost or around $15 ......and thats a LOT to ship what can probably be shipped for $5 or less.

Ok on the "do it yourself" route what are guys using to do it yourself...I dont really want to go this route as a first build in over 20 years but im also not gonna pay $30 for a Zim kit either..I dont plan on doing many $50 +(base cost) models lol.

                                     Depot Hobbies 17.95 plus shipping. Still under what your Jag retails for. Just make sure the set ,if you buy ,is for the Dragon as I used one for the Tamiya and it is slightly different.

I am not sure if you got it from a private seller, but you deffinatly got a bargain. If you buy the Zimm for $30, the combined price is still less that the kit alone in most places. It's £46 over here, about $70.

As for doing your own, Miliput white is a good option. And it is easy to to. And if you do small areas at a time, if you mess it up you can remove it befor eit hardens and start again. I find the hardest part is getting it on thin enough.

Thanks..I also see they make a "generic" version that you can "cut to fit"..so if I cant find one thats also a option. but yes $17 is fine it was just the one id seen was like $20+15 shipping lol....that just seemed a but out of sorts to me.

I think I finally found a reasonable version that will be around $25 to my door and its for the Dragon kit. that said if for some reason the didnt have it I will remember the Mil put stuff i found a MIG tool that makes the "pattern" for $8

I'm currently building the old DML Jagdpanther Early Version (picked up for $20 from a friend).  A word of advice, find as many reference pictures as you can.  I found several styles of Zimmerit, as well of pictures of vehicles without, I just don't remember the sites.  I went with a variation of the waffle pattern as shown in the pictures, with alternating horizontal and vertical grooves in each square.  A lot of work, but an interesting finish.  I used Squadron Green Putty thinned with Testor's Liquid Cement (in black bottle with metal applicator).    For a patterning tool, a wooden coffee stirrer cut to approx 4mm width with a chisel edge was my weapon of choice.  Work in small (bout 1" square) areas at a time. A lot of work and time, but worth it in the end.  By the way this was my first attempt at Zimmerit.  Good luck and keep trying new things.

One more thing, remember Zimmerit was never perfect, and got geat to hell in combat use.

My kid wants me to put "battle damage" on it like it had been in battle so id seen a lot of it scraped off and such on various tanks and now looking at a few with some 'battle damage" lol.

is this place even in business anymore?? Tried to order the kit and says they cant take paypal then I tried to email them and the email came back returned....anyplace else have a Zimmerit kit Cavalier or Atak for the same $$$

Men no biggie on Hobby Depot I guess in or out of business found the same thing elsewhere for same price so unless the local place can "special order" it I will just get it there thanks.
