Great look, specially the logs.

I also agree that the chains look a litlle too big for the scale. But thats just me.

Well, Josiah, I guess you could say that it's the journey, not the destination that really matters, so if you had fun building it, that's great. But I would say that you did such a nice job already with what looks like 1/2 the paint you would have needed to finish it that I would hope that you get yourself some more paint and repaint it and finish it properly. It just looks odd with that lack of paint---and it COULD look great, honestly, if you would get those bare patches covered and properly finished. There are a lot of good elements about the model, but....

I dunno; rushing things probably cut you short in this case. Get it finished up properly and repost it!!

There is nothing wrong with building a summer time war beast. You have six years of WW2 to model, so there is lots of summer time fighting to portray

Not bad at all. I really like the unditching logs and hand painted slogans. What did you use for the logs? Ate they the ones that come with the kit?  I would suggest losing the chains though, and adding more mud on the road wheels. but that is just my personal taste

The logs is a twig I found in the woods, tried to cut the ends so they looked like they were chopped with an axe. The kit supplied ones had long seam lines and I didn't feel like painting it. I agree with the more mud on the road wheels, I dunno why I thought that was enough, though I am partial to the chains.

Had to repaint this thing so I used what paint I had left and just brush painted it and weathered what I could to finish it this weekend. Had to get it done and off the bench so I can work some other things. Not exactly how I wanted but good enough for me to stick in the cabinet and enjoy the experience I had while working on it.

Sorry for the late response, Wharf Rat, I'm not sure what color I used, I want to say MM's medium green from what I remember.

Thanks Doog, I'll do that this summer when I get the time. I need to repaint the turret anyways the paint got stripped when I was doing some weathering.

Josiah, it looks great as is, but might I suggest a second pass with some lightened base coat? Concentrate on the higher panels and give it some more dimension. It wouldn't take but 15 minutes, all told, with the air brush to mix the paint, shoot it, and clean up?

One-color tanks are great to try this approach. It'll lend a little more dimension and "scale effect" lighting to your model!

I'm currently building this same kit.  What color(s) did you use to get the right Russian armor green?  I'm looking at a maybe base of Black Green (XF-27) followed by either Japanese Army Green (XF-13), Flat Olive Green (XF-58) or Flat Dark Green (XF-61) but can't really decide which would be best.

I think most any would work. Go with what looks good to you. From my understanding, there wasn't a standard green used.

Thanks Ernest, yeah I really want to get this one all done with before tuesday since that's when class starts and then I'll only have one week before practice starts. It was a pretty straight forward build. Fit was pretty good except for a few things with the hull here and there, typical Tamiya. So here's to hoping I'll pull through...

Tomorrow morning I'll put a dullcoat on it then proceed to weather it either that night or thursday...meanwhile gonna do some reading ahead for physics

I'm loving this weather, yesterday I had to run in the snow, today it was mid 50's so I was at the lacrosse field shooting on goal with shorts and a sweatshirt.

Anyways, I got the rest of the painting for this done except for the stowage stuff that will be going on afterwards. Here's a few pics...

Put first coat of paint on, I'll spray with a medium green when it gets back to warmer weather later this week.

Thanks for dropping in Ernest! --- yeah its a little low for me too, can't even stretch my legs out underneath or they'll hit the wall, courtesy of being 6'8" but oh well. I'll get some better pictures for you guys once I find my camera and get something worth looking at other than a chunk of sanded, puttied, unpainted plastic, lol.

Hey Josiah!  First, its nice to see you back!  Glad you had time to post something with your busy college schedule! Second, isn't  that work table really low??  Man, that wouild just KILL my back (me being an OLD guy)  Third, the photos are a little fuzzy, but can't see anything wrong with the T-34.  Seems to be coming along nicely!
