You know the great big German Siege cannon? The Adam calls for Gunze color 28 steel but that just sounds odd. Panzer grey maybe?
I thought Pz grey. German artillery seems to have all been painted in the same way as armour.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Depends on time period you want to depict...you have your choice of Panzer Gray pre-Feb '43, Dunkelgelb with or without camo after that as they saw service beyond the Crimea campaign on the Russian front. HTH!

Working on "Thor" myself. Color options I have are:
A) Dark Gray FS36081 Overall
B) Dark Green FS34086 Overall
C) Desert Yellow FS33434, Dark Green FS34086, Brown FS30117 camo. (I question the Desert Yellow)

Mortars in MiniatureA Scale Model (Plus!) Collection of the Infantryman's Artillery
An artistic suggestion--whatever color you paint it, remember that in the scale it is in, the "scale effect" of the light playing upon such a massive object would render whatever base coat you choose to be perceived as much lighter than the actual out-of-the-bottle paint.
Lighten your base coat by at least 50% for a more accurate paint coat.
