M-706 Commando Armored Car
Posted by constructor on Friday, January 27, 2012 1:46 AM

Just finished and from the painting booth. This Hobby Boss' M-706 Commando Armored Car is wating for the Spearheads Frontier decals of the Philippine Marines. The kit is a special issue with the Cadillac Gage turret aside for the standard turret of the kit. The Cadillac  turret is resin. I also did the interior but I did not open the doors because I have some doubts about the accuracy of the interior. The armored car was very visible during the several attempted coups here in Manila.

Nice one! I plan to build one of those myself someday. Of course you have the advantage you could see one close-up - although armoured cars on the streets is never a good thing. Thanks for sharing, have a nice day

Hi Redleg! Thanks for the comments. You know its really ready to roll. I worked on the axels and the wheels. Now all four are rotating.

Really nice, constructor!

No weathering at all though? A little bit of pigments on the wheels and lower hull would give it that "In action" look!

I love these armored cars. That is a really nice job you've done so far - I can't wait to see it with the decals and all finished up.

I think a while back you mentioned this 'special edition' kit - what number is it? I've got all the HB 706-series Armored Cars in the stash and have never come across this special edition. Seems like it is a pretty sweet little kit!

Thanks for your comment. This special edition is actually the regular M-706 model but with the extra Cadillac Gage turret. This was requested by IPMS Philippines as indicated by a corner paper on the box. The Cadillac turret is really nice although I also did the regular turret (Twin MG) that came wth it.

The weathering will come as soon as the decals are applied.

Nice looking build...  I agree that a little weathering would go a long way on it though.  I just ordered its modern day brother the M117 Guardian. Cant wait to get started on it.
