Left Side-Right Side ??
Posted by Tojo72 on Friday, January 27, 2012 8:40 AM

Here's a dumb one, what side do we consider the left side or right side of a tank, for example the instructions say to install the dark gray magic tracks on the left and the light ones on the right.

If you standing on the tank faceing the front, then your left is the tanks left and visa verca.

Generally, the "side" of any vehicle is what it would be if you were sitting in the seats.

So the "Right" side would be the "passenger side" in an American car; the "Left" would be the "Driver's side".

Also, in specific relation to the tracks you mentioned, it's important for vehicles that had "handed" tracks. It determines which side has the pin facing outward. Smile

Try this:

Nothing really much to add except that we were taught the left or right of the tank is based on you seated in the driver's seat with the turret over the front. I'm not certain that will always translate onto a model's instruction sheet.

I agree with Steve; we were taught that left side and right side are determined based on sitting in the DRIVER'S seat to avoid confusion if you were sitting in the seats in the turret.

Every tank I've crewed on has had the driver's seat dead smack in the middle so the driver's side/passenger side don't apply unless you're using it in the common American vernacular.

Just remember,

Standing facing the pointy end of the ship (the Bow), the left side is PORT, and the right side is STARBOARD.  LEEWARD is the side away from the wind

Oh wait, nevermind...
