Generally, the word among armor guys seems to be that American tanks in general do not get really "chipped up". They had a tough paint coat, and didn't really show the wear and tear like the German tanks did.

weathering an M41

Hello All,

I am wondering if an army tank of this era would have had a primer base under it that would have shown through from scratching and bumping through stuff.  I am not looking to do any paint chipping, but wondered what scuffing would look like on a piece of armor.  Just kind of a dull scratching, or would primer come through, or just bare metal if it got scraped up?

Thanks for any advice.
