Yep, a very nice testbed. And nice tip on the colour under the Zimm. I am guessing the grey is some sort of residue left behind by the Zimm. Sort of makes sense.

Will you do me a favor and take/post a photo zoomed-in on the turret where the spare track is mounted..by the number? That looks sweet and I'd love to see that a bit better!

Hi Tigerman ,the zim was from Cavalier and the reason i didnt go red oxide underneath is because after extensive research chiped zimm left a grey patchy colour with the imprint of zimm under chips and rarely seen the oxide colour. I witnessed this first hand after chips that had been chipped of a King tiger from WWII.

Looks great, Andy--and that's great info to share with the community here. I've been guilty of that modeling "sin", and always wondered/half-suspected that the whole "red oxide under zimm" thing was a bit overblown. Thanks for that first-hand info!

What did you try differently on this build that you were trying to achieve?

I like it too (at the middle of my day here). Beautiful work. Yes Interesting tidbit about the gray under the Zimm chips. If I ever go the chipping route on a build I will have to remember that.

Very cool Andy. I take it you did your own zimmerit? Very nice. No big deal, but any reason you didn't go with the red-oxide primer underneath the chipped paint?

Older models make for the perfect test beds! I keep a box of "retired" builds around for just that purpose, nice to see I'm not the only one who does it...unfortunately mine look like crazy quilts and aren't fit for display like your Panther. Big Smile
