Talk me out of buying a 2nd Airbrush

To me, the Iwatas clean so easily -- I don't mind using mine for the "blunt" jobs.  If you go away from Iwata, you'll likely get one that's more difficult to clean.  Save the money, I say.

I have 4 so I am not the right person to talk to.  Although I admit none of the cost what yours cost.

I can't help you as I'm a Badger man. I've owned 4 and loved them all. kind of a Ford/Chevy thing going on with Badger/Iwata. LOL I don't think you can have too many AB's, but I wouldn't spend a ton on them.

Since I'm new to ABing, I always worry about clogging and cleaning. So far, zero problem with my Eclipse although I've never tried ABing primers or coats. 

I'll try to suppress my urge to buy an Iwata Revolution, but it's only $70~~

Beware the man with one gun, he knows it well...

The Eclipse can probably handle anything you throw at it and the Revolutions are up to $96 now. At least at the places I frequent.

PS...on the other hand, a person can never have too many airbrushes. I have a BR and CR and like them both. Got them on sale and before the price increase...

Might as well start a A.B. stash ................i have ................5 as of now .

Buy a .5mm needle/nozzle for your Eclipse and it'll handle bigger jobs just fine.

Then go buy an HP-C Plus for the hairline detail stuff...

I have an Iwata Eclipse and an Iwata Smart Jet, both of which I love. 

I keep thinking that I need a cheaper second airbrush for less delicate jobs (e.g., primer, dull coat, future).  In fact, I want an Iwata Revolution. 

I can spend only a couple hours a week on this hobby, and I know it would be ridiculous to own two Iwata ABs given my rudimentary painting skills.

Please persuade me not to buy a Revolution.

It is easy to argue for NOT buying an Iwata Revolution if you already get an Eclipse.

1. You can convert the Eclipse to 0.5 mm nozzle with less $20 Iwata parts. The same easier to clean self centered nozzle design. Why pay $70 for a less convenient design of the Revolution.
2. The 0.5 mm nozzle makes only a small difference in the airbrush action. Still good for most delicate modeling task, but not that fast in paint release for large area or primer.
3. If you really want quick paint release, try Badger Anthem 155 or Patriot 105. They have 0.75 mm nozzle standard and a "2 angles" needle design. Very different trigger action from the Iwata.

I found the HP-CS good for everything I do in modeling. My airbrush skill is limited and I do not do any free hand really fine detail work.

Go for it. You only live once. I have an HP-C about 10 yrs old maybe, I'm in and out of building so I don't get to regularly paint. I almost forget how to use it, but when I do cleaning is a snap.

I actually thought about buying a Patriot.  However, it seems that I cannot use a quick connector with it in conjunction with my Iwata hose.  I've looked at all quick connectors at TCP & Chicago Airbrush.  You know...Badger uses a non-standard hose guage. And I LOVE quick connectors. Plus, I'm a novice, and I better stick to one release mechanism to get a better feel.

Anyway, Amazon sells the Revolution for $72 w/ free shipping while virtually everyone else sells for $95.  I'm inclined to buy one before Amazon raises the price.  I just told my that as a painter needs several brushes, I'd need at least two airbrushes

You should be able to get a quick connect fitting for a Badger quite easily, go about 1/2 way down this page & look at 104083 - it screws onto any badgers air valve & fits into standard Q/C's;

That's a tough one...last year I went out and picked up a double action Badger, don't recall the model, with all sorts of nifty features to replace the single action Badger I've had for years. Guess which one is on the shelf gathering dust.

One could write books about what I do not know about airbrushes and airbrushing, It probably does not help that I really do not know what I'm doing with one save that it's like a spray can that never runs out of propellant. I've always been stunned at how the guys that know what they're doing paint murals on motorcycle tanks and the like.

But that's just me, one day I'll pick up the DA and fool with it and perhaps get to like it. I guess if it's what you really want to do then what's the harm in it?

It's a waste of money. Buy one airbrush to use, learn how to use and clean it properly, and it'll do anything and everything you want it to.

I've been using the same Badger 150 AB for at least 10 years now. I do everything with it, and I've never encountered a situation where I've felt frustrated by its lack of capability.

I replace the parts every now and then--needles or gaskets or heads--and it's like an old reliable pickup.

Learn to take it apart down to the air regulating screws in the air feeder hose area by cleaning it. You'll learn what parts do what and what may need to replaced through wear.

Believe me, you don't need a second airbrush--not to mention a third.
