OK, so I'll have to change the provided sign... Any idea how it should be, is there any reference of that kind of signs on the net? My idea is to make a very worn winter wash, so I want to place my tank in the "right place, right time"

The tank would be OD green under the white wash paint. It was a temporary type of paint used around the time of the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944.

The M24 didn't arrive in Europe until November 1944 and not in any great number until December. The window of combat usage of the M24 in winter camouflage in Europe is small, with December 1944 being the beginning and as winter ended, the camouflage would have been removed. The War in Europe was over in May 1945.

The tanks entered in France and would have traveled into Belguim for the BoB and into Germany in February 1945.

Question on M24 Chaffee winter scheme

I'd like to finish my 1/76 M24 with a winter scheme, but I have some doubts about this. Fisrt of all, I'd like to know if this white paint applied to the M24 was water-based, like that on Russian and German tanks, so I can remove the white paint from some areas to make it more realistic. Second: Which should be the base color for the M24? Dark green or OD? Last: Well, I guess this winter scheme were used by tanks at late 1944-1945, I'd like to know where exactly. I have the Revell/Matchbox kit and it comes with a nice base for a little diorama, it comes with a sign (a decal) that says: "Cherbourg Coutanes Carteret (to the left) Paris Saint-Lô (to the right). Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.

José.
